A perfect village. A perfect crime.

When two young girls disappear from their primary school, the village of Heighington is put on high alert—and not for the first time. Called in to investigate, Detective Karen Hart is sure that parallels with a previous disappearance are anything but coincidental.

DS Hart is still reeling from a case she tried and failed to solve eighteen months ago, when a young woman vanished without a trace. She’s no nearer to the truth of what happened to Amy Fisher, but with two children missing now, too, the stakes have never been higher. As she looks to the past for clues, she must confront her own haunting loss, a nightmare she is determined to spare other families.

Hart soon realizes that nothing in this close-knit Lincolnshire community is what it seems. Pursuing the investigation with personal vengeance, she finds herself in conflict with her scrupulous new boss, but playing by the rules will have to wait. Because while there’s no shortage of suspects, the missing girls are running out of time....

* POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT *

I loved this book which initially found 2 young girls disappearing on their walk home from school and culminated in 2 deaths, 3 family members being returned and the most unlikely perpetrator .

The narrator was excellent with good accent skills adding to the realism.

In conclusion, anyone looking for an excellent crime read should look no further than this author to satisfy their craving. 😁😁

Confident crime novel set in country town

The story is good but ruined by the excruciating narration.
Even the main character has an appalling accent but the Scottish one is beyond the pale.

Not sure I can finish it

Awful narration - could prompt a Scottish uprising

Going by how absolutely awful the narration was, I'm assuming the narrator has never engaged in a conversation or even read a sentence out loud before.
I had to finish as once I start books I have to finish them to find out what happened. This could have been so much better.
I have never listened to such a dreadful narration.

Good story, DREADFUL narration.

Thourouly enjoyed the mystery and characters, very real to life with frustrating twists,
I found it hard to cope with the accent used by the narrator as I found I was constantly being placed in a Faith Martin book as that lead DI and other characters this was disapointing

intriguing
