A young girl finds a woman murdered. Can DS Karen Hart uncover the truth and find the killer?

In the dead of night, four teenagers taking a shortcut through an archaeological dig site find a body in a trench. It doesn’t take long for them to be more scared than they’ve ever been in their lives. These are no ancient remains: the woman was killed just hours earlier . . .

DS Karen Hart rushes to the scene and swiftly learns that Alison Poulson was unpopular with the archaeologists and the TV crew filming the excavation. She finds bitter colleagues, an angry farmer and an oddly unmoved husband. Then there’s the teenage girl who found the body, who seems to know more than she’s letting on . . .

After a second murder shocks Karen to her core, it seems the culprit will stop at nothing to cover their tracks. Can she unravel the mystery before another innocent life is lost, or will the killer stop her first?

Why doesn’t the narrator just use her own pleasant voice all the time? Any why can she mispronounce so many normal words? The attempt at accents ruins another splendid novel about Karen Hart.

The dreadful narration spoils Karen’s Lincolnshire case

Loved this!!! I’m hoping it’s not the last in the series but if it is it was a brilliant way to go!! Another excellent story and again brilliant narration!!

Another good Karen Hart mystery but I gave up on audio at chapter 20 and finished it in Kindle. I'm afraid I couldn't cope with the harsh, grating accents from the narrator. Distracting and abrasive. A shame since her voice is lovely when narrating without accents .
