The first book in David Moody's epic Autumn zombie series - available in audio for the first time. Contains bonus short stories not included in the original release.

In less than twenty-four hours a vicious viral epidemic destroys virtually all of the population. Billions are killed. There are no symptoms and no warnings; within moments of infection each victim suffers a violent and agonising death. Only a handful of survivors remain.

And then, animated by "phase two" of the contagion, the dead begin to rise.

At first slow, blind, dumb and lumbering, the bodies soon regain their most basic senses and abilities... sight, hearing, locomotion... As well as the instinct toward aggression and violence.

Held back only by the restraints of their rapidly decomposing flesh, the dead have only one single goal - to destroy the sole remaining attraction in the silent, lifeless world: those who have survived.

Without ever using the 'Z' word, Autumn offers a new perspective on the traditional zombie story. There's no flesh eating, no fast-moving corpses, no gore for gore's sake. Combining the atmosphere and tone of George Romero's classic living dead films with the attitude and awareness of 28 Days (and Years) later, this horrifying novel is filled with relentless cold, dark fear.

Eleştirmen yorumları

"The best survival horror since Richard Matheson's I am Legend" —Wayne Simmons, author of Flu and Plastic Jesus

"With Autumn, David Moody paints a picture of a marvellously bleak dystopian future where the world belongs to the hungry dead. It's the creepy start to a compelling series." Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of Patient Zero

"Autumn is genuinely creepy, an atmospheric study of what happens when the dead come back - and what we have to do just to survive." David Wellington, author of Monster Island

Instead of being dumped x amount of years after the apocolape, where your protagonists are hardened killing machines and every encounter with zombies are tensionless and low-stakes, this book pits you at the onset of an apocalpyse following a plague that has wiped 99% of humanity, to which the corpses of the dead start to reanimate and seemingly target the few that survived, Due to this, the early-stage vulnerability is real and fleshed out as you follow your band of survivors who are constantly on edge as they have to try and survive amongst this new, poorly understood threat and it's terrifying.

If you're into scenes where characters are in their hideout barely breathing, terrified at what's outside their window. The raw fear and uncertainty. That tension building, where survival feels fragile and every sound matters--this book is for you.

well written and a realistic reaction to a post apocalyptic world. Characters you like and ones you dont. All signs of good character writting.
