Most of Jesse’s fights don't last more than a minute or two. But as competition in town dries up, the Madsens go looking for better fights and bigger risks - with the chance for bigger payouts. Even as Jesse’s home life is closing in on him, he must find a way to win one more fight.

Great writing. Great story. I could not recommend this more. The perfect short story. A portrait of rural America

Simply awesome

I don't really know what to make of this. It seemed to start as if it was going to develop into something but didn't really develop at all and most oddly was the ending, which simply seemed to come from nowhere and based on nothing at all. It was almost as if a story was beginning to develop and suddenly, for no reason, it's stopped. Very odd

Bleak and beautiful, poisoned and perfect. I am continually excited about what will come next from Sam.

It was ok for a short story. I understood the ending however, I felt it needed five more minutes… :)
