An Amos Carver Thriller

Ex-special forces operator Amos Carver is being framed for murder. Carver hasn't killed anyone. At least not for a few years, and certainly not in some backwoods Georgia town. He would never harm the person they're accusing him of murdering. But nobody believes him. And no one is willing to help prove otherwise.

Amos Carver is just minding his own business when a woman falls to her death right around the corner from where he's working. At first it seems like a senseless tragedy. An accident. Carver can't help but investigate. When he does, he realizes this was no ordinary woman. She was a trained killer. And she was looking for him.

Amos Carver is just enjoying some R&R when people try to murder him in his sleep. The key word is try. Because Carver doesn't let his guard down. Not even when he's living the tranquil life in a beach house. It turns out these people might have kidnapped or killed a former squad mate of his. A man named Cliff Barrows. And Carver wants to know why. More than that, he wants to teach them a lesson. Barrows saved Carver on more than one occasion. That means Carver owes him. Owes him big time. And even if he didn't, Carver still adheres to a simple code. Leave no brother behind.

Amos Carver is out camping when he's forced to kill two men. To be fair, they shot at him first. But they missed and Carver didn't. It turns out these men were tracking down a drug addict who stole something valuable from them. A briefcase full of money and drugs. Just before he dies, the drug addict tells Carver that he left the briefcase just over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. He left it with a woman named Sally.

Carver goes to El Fuerte to visit his friend, Joe Donelly, only to find out he's dead. Joe bred prize-winning horses. One of those horses supposedly kicked him to death. Carver doesn't buy that for a minute. For one thing, Joe was a former Navy SEAL. He taught Carver everything he knew. He was a careful man. Skilled. Quick on his feet. A pro at handling horses. Carver quickly discovers there were plenty of reasons for someone to want Joe dead.

The cartel has Paola in their sights. They know where she is and they're coming for her. Carver has no idea where she is. He's tried contacting her and she's not answering. She might already be captured. She might already be dead. He gets a lead on her last location and it's the last place he expected her to go. It's also the last place he ever wants to visit again, but he has no choice.

When a hurricane slams into western North Carolina, Carver decides it's time to leave his remote mountain cabin and head to the beach. Before he can get far, his pickup is taken out by a landslide, along with all of his weapons and equipment. Now he's on foot in gale force winds and pouring rain. He soon discovers that the area is swarming with escaped prisoners and mercenaries using the storm as cover for an insidious plan. A plan that involves turning a natural disaster into a full-scale apocalypse. Carver would rather be on the beach, but there's no way out.

When Carver finds out that Rich Polaski, a man he served with in the SEALS, is on an NSA watch list, he goes to warn him out of a sense of duty. He arrives in the small town of Bickham, Illinois, a spotless town with almost zero crime, no chain stores, and an aesthetic from a time long past.

When Carver finds out Liana Cardoso is missing, presumed dead, he'll stop at nothing to find out what happened to her, and he'll avenge her by any means necessary. Carver and Liana started out on opposite sides. She was NSA, he was trying to stop an assassin from hunting down Paola and killing her. After Carver saved Liana from Enigma, they laid low in the mountains of western North Carolina for a while and then the NSA welcomed Liana back in from the cold. But someone in the upper echelons of power sold a list of undercover agents to an information broker.
