  • How to Plan Your First Podcast Episode (Ask This First)
    28 Oct 2026

Before you plan your first podcast episode, there's one question you need to ask somebody. In this episode I tell you exactly what it is and exactly who to ask.

For the last few weeks I've had a small group of beta testers poking around at something brand new I've built, telling me what's rubbish and what's brilliant, and it's been the best thing I've done all year. Some of their throwaway comments have changed what the thing actually does.

So I've been thinking about you and your podcast, and about all the advice out there that says plan it perfectly in private first. I don't agree with that at all, and I explain why, what I'd much rather you did instead, and the one small thing I want you to do today before you plan a single episode.

Press play, it's under five minutes. Then come and tell me how you get on.

  • Does your podcast need video? Audio vs video podcast numbers
    27 Oct 2026

Should my podcast be on video or not? It's one of the questions I get asked the most, and I see people get so stuck on it that they don't start at all.

In this episode I'm answering it for you. My agency makes both audio and video podcasts, so I'm not picking a side because it suits me. What I've got is one number, the difference between how much of an audio episode gets listened to and how much of a video one gets watched, and once you hear it the decision gets a lot easier.

There's also some hot off the press news about long form video on Instagram, launched yesterday, and what it means for your pod shot.

Then one thing to do today. Press play and let's get this question off your list.

  • Starting a Podcast? The Bit After Recording Is the Hard Part
    26 Oct 2026

Thinking about starting a podcast and scared of pressing record? I reckon you're scared of the wrong bit.

In this episode I tell you about the part of podcasting that nearly broke me, and it wasn't the talking. After ten years of doing this, pressing record is the easiest five minutes of my whole day. It's what happens after you press stop that can turn a five minute episode into a few hours, and that's where I've watched podcasts slow down and stop altogether.

I share why that matters for your business, why the fix isn't trying harder, and I drop a hint about something I've been building in the background to fix exactly this. More on that this week.

There's also one small thing I want you to write down before tomorrow. Press play and I'll tell you what it is.
