About this listen

Wicked Autumn: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

Max Tudor has adapted well to his post as vicar of St. Edwold's in the idyllic village of Nether Monkslip. The quiet village seems the perfect home for Max, who has fled a harrowing past as an MI5 agent. But this new-found serenity is quickly shattered when the highly vocal and unpopular president of the Women's Institute turns up dead at the Harvest Fayre.

The death looks like an accident, but Max's training as a former agent kicks in, and before long he suspects foul play. As the investigation unfolds, Max becomes more intricately involved. Memories he'd rather not revisit are stirred, evoking the demons from the past which led him to Nether Monkslip.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Enjoyed the actual story , but the narration was difficult to relate to and the lack of characterisation made it worse.

Narrator jarred with me.

I normally love a good vicar-led murder, and one with added paganish characters even more so. This story though takes itself far too seriously, is rather smug and caused me to DNF at the 73rd mention of how all the ladies, young and old, lust after our vicar.

Decent narration though.

Meh.
