About this listen

An Aeldari Corsairs Audiobook

Baron Myrin Stormdawn of the Starsplinters Corsairs allies with a craftworld aeldari to deal with rival ork freebooters for plunder and territory. Along the way, he must negotiate a complicated web of connections and the favour of his superiors.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's a glimpse into the mysterious life of the aeldari corsairs, who exist somewhere between the structured craftworld aeldari and the unscrupulous drukhari. It's a life of daring adventure and excitement as well as danger and dirty politics. Plus, they're up against everyone's favourite cunning and brutal pirates – ork freebooters.

THE STORY

The Starsplinters are aeldari corsairs, raiders and reavers of the void, and Baron Myrin Stormdawn is one of their greatest leaders. When his running conflict with the Badskab Bukkaneers of Uzgul da Magnificent escalates in unexpected ways, Myrin is forced into an alliance with Taenar Leotharan, an exiled admiral from his former home – the craftworld Ilmaren.

As Taenar is forced to adapt to the unfettered life of the corsair, whose freedom is a double-edged sword, Myrin faces challenges of his own. When a Starsplinters' authority rests on the success of their last voyage and the whims of their feared commander, Princess Tishria, Uzgul da Magnificent's freebooters may not be the deadliest threat…

while that isn't saying much in all honestly I play drukhari and would like to give that to the queen of knives but Mike gave us a bit more to chew on here. I also think that WH books can be sorted into: good warhammer books, good books, and good warhammer AND good book. I think this one is sorted into the few which are both good warhammer and a good book!

THE best aeldari book

amazing; simply amazing! Mike Brooks you've done it again. I admit, this is my first time listening to an aeldari book, but this has hooked me. the characters, the way they speak and how they've masterfully portrayed how the corsair pirates operate and behave, it leaves you yearning for more.

the aeldadi empire's corpse stirs!

A book about Eldar not written by Gav Thorpe and it's really, really good. Makes Eldar diverse, complex and interesting. Even the "dull" Craftworlders are given intrigue.

A Good Eldar Book

A swashbuckling adventure from both the Aeldari and Ork perspectives. I just wish there was more of it!

Another great Brooks book

A really entertaining story with a few twists that caught me off guard and a satisfying resolution. Plenty of cool characters to latch onto, especially if you're interested in all the variants of aeldari outcasts you might find in the galaxy. A solid showing from the ork antagonists too, though that's no surprise given the author.

There's a lot of really interesting worldbuilding going on, mainly for the corsairs but also in the form of an inter-species market operated by the Votunn. The latter was particularly cool and the sort of thing normally only mentioned in passing, so it was nice to see a weirder corner of the setting get some screen time.

Great story, cool world building.
