THE STORY

Solomon Akurra dreams of empire.

As Harrowmaster, he has united feuding forces within the Alpha Legion under his command and conquered entire star systems. Wielding what he claims to be the Pale Spear, his primarch's weapon, Solomon is carving a new future. Many renegade warlords seek to enslave humanity, but the Ghost wants more. He seeks to shatter the Imperium and rebuild humanity anew.

However, ambition attracts enemies, and the Imperium rises in force to destroy Solomon's Ghost Legion and his burgeoning new world. To defend what's his, the Harrowmaster must test his martial prowess and ingenuity to the limit. He is prepared to play the long game, but as Imperial assassins lurk in the shadows and fury and dissent fester within the ranks of his Legion, will the terrible price of Solomon's vision prove too high a cost?

Written by Mike Brooks. Narrated by Alex Lanipekun. Runtime 10 hours and 11 minutes approx.

Much better choice on the narrator than the first audiobook. Added much needed depth and character to the members of the alpha legion

A good sequel into the politics of the alpha legion

An excellent view of the 40k universe, an unusual look at the Alpha Legion in a light you don't often see. Really enjoyable tale.

Great story

The Harrowmaster, Solomon, is an interesting character. The cast of other characters around him add much to this story, which seems unusual for an alpha legion story as they actually stand and fight for a change. Bringing in elements from earlier books in the series, this one progressed the story nicely. I feel like I need to get the next one already, so I’m not bored of the wider plot that runs through the Harrrowmasters stories.

We need more alpha legion

Mike Brooks loosely stitches together and incoherent story that has basically nothing in common with the Alpha Legion other than the colour of their armour. Tulava Dyne is an annoying and unlikeable character, Solomon just does not think or behave like a member of the Alpha Legion, nor like a Space Marine in general. I actually enjoyed Harrowmaster but this was truly awful.

The story ticks along at a good pace. the writing and performance is good but the story just isn't up to the standard of the first installment. it tries to have too many characters and too many threads without doing any of them justice. its decent to have 40k to.listem to while you paint but nothing more than that. no better than any other 40k story.
