About this listen

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.

Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded, runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin, to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way....With fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi, her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now, she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home - with an 11-year-old going on 30 to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications, or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But, since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble, he can leave her alone, and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan, until the trouble turns to real danger.

I suppose it’s because I’ve read books like this before, but it didn’t live up to the hype. I liked the grovelling a lot, it was better than most books that tried the same trope. I hope that Lucian gets his own story soon. The twists and turns were a nice filler for the romance although I did except one or two things. At the end of the day it was a really good read.

Loved the soppy story line. Good narration, and was actually less annoyed by the accents than I thought I would be.

I loved the writing and subplots in this book! Excellent pacing and very satisfying ending. I do agree that some of the characters seem a little immature for being in their 30s-40s however I think this adds to the plot of their character development. Some people complained this book was too long but I think the pacing was really appropriate and none of the scenes really felt drawn out or unnecessary. Overall good read!

Cute small-town romance with a little mystery subplot!

The story was well written, well paced despite being long, and very humorous at times.

However, it was the amazing and brilliant narration that made this audible book so good and enjoyable.
SebYo was excellent as usual and hie sexy gravelly voice completely was the lovable grumpy character and hero Knox.
Lila Winters matched Seb’s skills and her different voices for the various female characters were so good

I really recommend this book. I also hope they will be further audible books about the other male characters, Nash, the enigmatic Lucien, and Steph. What are their stories?

Narration made this story.

very word vomit at times, cringy dialogue, and immature slang at times
especially how the honky tonk characters reacted to knox etc
but I kept with it, very long winded and dragged out
not sure I'll continue series

was ok
