Summary

There was a time when everyone knew what a real man was....

Now, with changing times, values, and roles, many men struggle with what it means to be a "real man" in the 21st century.

What does a real man look like? How does he act? What are his values and morals? What role does a real man play in society? The 12 commitments that Chris and Larry share cover the gamut of life, from family, including your spouse and children, work, health, finances, service, and friendships.

This little book is thought-provoking. It will both challenge you as well as encourage you. Most importantly, it will cause you to think about what kind of man you are and what kind of man you can become.

meh

Very vague, just some blure outlines. Definitely high standards but not rules for peak masculine experience on this planet.

Surprisingly good, I wanted more

As a Brit with more than the average dose of British cynicism, I genuinely thought this audiobook might be satire when I first heard Larry’s strong accent and hearing him talk about “real men”.

However this book is wholesome, with solid, sound advice throughout. I finished it by the afternoon of the day I started it and may listen again in future. In fact I wanted each chapter to be longer, with more details on how to implement each commitment. I understand that isn’t the scope of this book though.

I’d gladly have paid a few quid for this, so to have it included for free with audible is great. It’s given me a boost of motivation, which I hope lasts, so that I can commit to the commitments I’ll make. Well done and thank you to the authors.

Not finished

I think someone didn’t do editing correctly. I think I heard 2 or 3 retakes. One paragraph repeating and so on.

Other than that. Great book. This should be mandatory listening for all men.

Good points, poor execution

The 12 points to become a real man are good. But at least at one point the author counter himself. It is said to respect everyone, even the ones whom you hate. But it is later said that you should not respect people, who thinks the deserve your respect.
Furthermore, one of the points is repeated - so be prepared to hear one of the points twice

needs teaching in schools! A*

The beginning voice over sounds like your stereotypical 'Redneck America' however give him chance and you will be stunned.

A masterclass in how not to record an audiobook.

Poorly narrated, some sections repeated, bloopers and flubbed lines left in. At least I didn't pay for it.
