Summary
Obsession. Magic. Revenge. Freedom and love have never been so deadly.
My ex-lover is a psychopath, hunting me down for revenge. I am falling in love with his enemy. And I am the last Arcane Witch left alive, destined to return magic to the modern world.
My whole life, I have been a prisoner. Starved. Beaten. Hated. By my own family! But most of all, I am feared. I am feared because I am the most powerful woman in the world. Most want me dead. Some want to control my magic for their own dark desires. To others, I am salvation. A key to winning a war that has raged for 500 years between those who can use magic, and hunters, who dedicate their entire existence to killing anyone with magic in their blood. I am released from my chains and thrown into a world I am supposed to save. A world that has made me suffer beyond words. Magic must return. But should it?
Please Note: This is a dark, paranormal fantasy romance series and contains explicit content and darker elements, including mature language, violence, torture, and non-consensual sex. It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age.

Fantastic story
Loved the story, having read the book had high hopes, the author (in my humble opinion) couldn’t quite get all the different voices. I’d still recommend the audio to anyone. I just went in with different voices, I realised half way through. Listen first , then if an option grab the book.

Amazing performance of a great story
I fell in love with this book when it first came out, recommended to me by my daughter. I’d heard Amy’s narration of The Verity, so I had high expectations of this title from the start. It doesn’t disappoint. The narration is spot on throughout, really bringing a wonderful story to life. The story evokes so many emotions. It’s a book I will be going back to time and time again and I can’t wait for book 2 to come out.

Slow but intriguing start
At first I did not really like the book since I wasn’t to found of the main character, but as the story developed she grew on me and with her backstory unfolding you got to know why she is the way she is, which made me change my mind. I liked the book, esp the later half of it. I could not stop listening. The narrative did a really great job in reading the book making it come to life.

A million stars!
I absolutely love M J Lawrie, it's well known, her books are just phenomenally dark and utterly engrossing, and you barely have time to take a breath before you're thrown into some new chaos.
The Last Witch is one of my favourite series, I've read it multiple times and the fact it's now coming to audio too just makes my little black heart swell with joy!! Amy Putt did a fantastic job of bringing some of my fave (and least fave) characters to life and I cannot WAIT for the rest of the series to blast directly into my ears.
If you like dark romance, the paranormal, forbidden love, trauma, trauma and more trauma, I FULLY recommend this series (and everything M J writes honestly!)

Even better in Audio!
I have read this series but it brings the characters to life listening to each accent, tone and mood!
Once again Amy has made each character come alive, I even love grayson with his smarmy charm, she makes his voice almost drip! Another incredible world created by MJ Lawrie, A must read!

Amazing
Absolutely awesome 🖤 I read this a few years ago when it first came out and it instantly became one of my favourite series. And now the audiobook was released and I had to get it straight away. And it's even better than reading it 🥰 Can't wait for the others to be released in audio. The narrator did a great job!

Amazing!!!!
I absolutely love these books. This is the second time I have read this story and was so pleased when it came out on audio. The narrator was brilliant in every way and gave me chills on occasion absolutely fantastic 👏. The last witch was my very first dark story and my very first book boyfriend was created ❤️ . The story was gripping and so emotional. Every part gives you twists and turns in the very best way. In one part of the book I was soooooo angry 😠 and I remember that's exactly how I felt the first time I read it so to make me feel so emotional while reading for the second time, fantastic job 👏 😀. I will forever love these books and really look forward to when the next one is released on audio ❤️.

Great Story
Lily is a good person but she has been starved, tortured, and beaten within an inch of her life many times over. She lost her mother at a young age and has been imprisoned by her cruel uncle for most of her life, all because she is the last witch. Her uncle fears that the Hunters will find them because of her and then they will all pay with their lives. They fear her because she has the ability to wield the most powerful magic since her ancestor walked the earth. Some say she is the answer that will set them free. Others say she is the epitome of evil and must be killed for all their sakes.
When she is suddenly rescued from her miserable existence, her mind is a whirlwind of revelations and confusion. Are people lying and manipulating her or do they just want the best for her? She's not sure who to trust, not even herself. But Lily understands there's a fine line between good & evil. She is drawn and compelled by both in equal measures, and it's not yet determined which side she will fall on. What transpires next are the consequences of pushing Lily too far.
To be honest, when we first meet Lily she is pretty pathetic in the sense that she is easily lead, quite naive and doesn't really listen to her intuition. Of course this is due to the tremendous trauma she's been through. You have great sympathy for her however, she's basically a frightened rabbit for awhile. But stick with it because once she gets her wings (metaphorically speaking), she is a force to be reckoned with. That said, this is no doubt a brilliant story and I can't wait for book 2.
This is my first time reading this series and I'm so glad I was able to read it via audiobook because Amy Putt is a fantastic narrator. I would also highly recommend M.J. Lawrie's 'The Verity' which I absolutely loved.

Adults interacting like teenagers
I was really hopeful about this book after seeing so many recommendations and I persevered twice for over 30 minutes into the story.
The story itself may be really good.
I couldn't get that far. New information is dropped on the reader without foreshadowing in an abyss of invisible surroundings. I have no clue what the room looked like. When I read /audiread I'm lucky that I get full HD visual pictures in my head, but not with this book.
At no point did I get lost in the story.
I usually know what the surroundings in books look, sound and smell like.
The house was grey mist to me there were holes in the walls. Is this what aphantasia feels like?
There were so many opportunities for Lily's musings to set up the back history which went unstated, metaphors don't fit the back drop and the biggest issue is that the adults converse like children/ teenagers.
I've returned very few audible books (I'm returning this one) and I hate to be harsh, but I could not continue with this book and wish I had read this review before I bought it.
