Morgan knew there were problems in her department when she took the Sheriff's position, but there are problems and then there are PROBLEMS! Are her deputies crooked and selling out the department or just badly trained by the previous Sheriff?
Add to this a shooting with no body, a body with no identity and a missing student and she feels totally overwhelmed. This case is like a jigsaw puzzle with 5 corner pieces! Everytime she solves one clue she uncovers another two questions, with witnesses becoming suspects and suspects becoming victims, Ms Leigh once again weaves a very twisted and depraved tale that has you hooked from chapter one.
Bree is an excellent Sheriff, but she sets herself impossibly high standards, can Matt convince her she doesn't have to be perfect all the time and that it is ok to be human occasionally?
I fell for Matt in book one, but once again he shows his protective side without being controlling or demeaning. He is methodical in his investigations, supportive with Bree and so very patient...which only makes him sexier! His love and care for his dogs shows his softer side which adds to this too!
I listened to this on Audible with Kindle Unlimited, it is a fantastic series and I also enjoyed the crossover with Stella and Morgan Dane too!
