storyline from start to finish with some great characters and antics within the book. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

She follows her ambition of title and money, regecting the boy who loves her. Making sure she tells him he is not good enough, she repeats this comment again later, when informing him of her latest suitor. She marries a stranger and ends up with the husband she deserves. She builds her own little fantasy world, ejecting anyone who doesn't play along. She will not admit her husband was a serial philanderer and died a drunkard. Forcing everyone around her to participate in the lies, so proving they lover her. She becomes a Dowager; no longer the centre of attention. So decided to build another fantasy, of living in a "cottage", close enough to her original power base, making sure she can recieve visitors. Sadly her lovelorne swain is dragged in to this latest fantasy, thus she is still Lady Bountiful. How brave of her; marrying the man she loves, though he is only a "gentlman carpenter." Still everything is on her terms.
