Summary

You can run from the grave, but you can't hide. Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She's still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her. But when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she'll find that desire lasts forever and that Bones won't let her get away again.

Jeaniene Frost, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author, lives with her husband and their very spoiled dog in Florida. Although not a vampire herself, she confesses to having pale skin, wearing a lot of black, and sleeping in late whenever possible. And while she can't see ghosts, she loves to walk through old cemeteries. She also loves poetry and animals, but fears children and hates to cook.

Love in vein: listen to another Night Huntress novel.

Critic reviews

“Proving that her first book was no fluke, Frost ratchets up the action and stirs up the suspense big time in her second Night Huntress novel. That said, it's the sizzling passion of her star-crossed lovers that really makes this book a genuine keeper!” ( Romantic Times)
“This series is only getting better…between the exciting action scenes and the rekindled romance between Cat and Bones, I did not put this one down until the last page.” ( Coffee Time Romance)

One Foot In The Grave

I've been looking forward to listening to this book for a while. I snapped it up as soon as it came out and finished it in a day. This is the second book in the Night Huntress Series and is every bit as gripping and fast-paced as the first. It was great to see Bones again. For someone like me who's read a lot of vampire fiction, he really is a breath of fresh air. One thing this book had over the first was that the Author seemed to have a better idea of when detail became too much detail. There were a couple of times in the previous book when I was given more information than I wanted, especially during some of the fight scenes. I didn't find that this time round. There were a couple of stomach churning moments, but as they were necessary to the story I could cope. The sex scenes were few as usual, which I like, though one was a little on the explicite side. All in all, if you like your romance with a healthy dose of action and vampires thrown in, this book is for you.

Struggle a bit with the English accent

It's a good story, with good characters. It grabs and keeps your attention. It's just the terrible English accent that's given the Bones character, it truly is awful!

dreadful

Embarrassingly lame. The protagonist is actively dislikeable and I didn't enjoy the way the characters interacted with eachother, they're all very one dimensional. I couldn't finish it, drivel.

What a mismatched Narrator

This story really bombed because the Narrator was clearly not British. The story was good but could have been glorious with a British Narrator. Cat and Bones: it was the play between the British and American voices that really brought the series to life for the listener. The publisher wasted my time.

Awful narration

Enjoyed the first book despite the awful accents so I’ve purchased the second as the story lines are good. However again I still think the awful accents and narration spoil what could have been a fab read..

A Sequel That Delivers

I like this series and I like the narration. I lot of people have a problem with the mockney accent given to Bones, but if you've made it through the first book you will be used to it. This is a satisfying sequel which develops both the characters and the story and gives them bigger, intriguing obstacles to overcome. If you enjoyed the first book, you will like this. I found the series after looking for humorous, romantic fantasy recommendations on Goodreads and this book is one of the highest rated in the series. I hope it's not downhill from here!

doesn't disappoint

really enjoyed the next chapter in bones and cats story. looking forward to hearing what'll happen next.

working out the family lineage made for some good twists in this book, with bones 'family' line being people he's slept with making me laugh.
