The second book in the beloved, bestselling Redwall saga - soon to be a major Netflix movie!

When Verduaga Greeneyes, king of the wildcats, becomes tyrant ruler over the creatures of Mossflower, the woodlanders begin a life of serfdom and cruelty. But then, one winter afternoon, a young mouse called Martin chances by the woods -bringing with him an indomitable spirit of adventure and will for freedom . . .

I love Brian Jacque's command of language, the gripping storyline and the satisfactory sense of good overcoming evil.

listening delight

The story here is varied the villain is smart and the writing is good. The hero is stalwart and unyielding, the supporting character are also good and fun, enough danger to keep it feeling real and you hope the heroes will win through. I love the Badgers in this story in Redwall in general. Some fun easter eggs for the later books.

A great continuation of the story

Not at all like Book 1. This one had lots of fighting and killing and nasty animals. One of the main heroes is a thief. I suppose I’m being a bit uptight, but not the kind of thing I’d want a child of mine to read…

Not for kids

The speaker is too fast pace and one note: panic and urgent. It ruins the story a bit as there aren’t highs and lows

Love the book but didn’t like the recording
