I will always have a soft spot for this book as it was how i found Courtney W Dixon and her amazing books.
Listening to it was more powerful than it was reading it and the things Luca went through in his short life made a bigger impact on me. Harley Chase narrated perfectly and brought all the characters to life. I am looking forward to the rest of The District coming to audio .

I loved reading this book, even though the subject matter was hard to read at times. However listening to it, I had to stop it for a few minutes after hearing what happened to Dante. Hearing Harley Chase narrate that scene, even now writing about it my heart goes heavy and then you have what Luca had to go through, these scenes are handled sensitively.
But then my heart lifts as I hear Luca enjoying things for the first time, his first bite of pizza, Cleo being turned into a cuddle dog and even though I knew what his reactions would be, I still smiled as the narrator had the excitement in his voice.
I am looking forward to hearing how Harley Chase narrates the rest of this series

Reread as audiobook. Excellent narration. The connection I didn't quite feel in the ebook (in my original review) was certainly not so for me in audio (good narration makes good books even better).
Story - 4 stars. An intense story packed full of various sorts of violence. Luca was amazingly resilient, which was really beneficial for Dante, both having experienced awful pasts. The District group is an interesting one to base a series on. Somehow, I didn't connect with these characters as much. I'll still look forward to the next part.

His Death Bringer deals with a very dark and difficult subject. Courtney W. Dixon has managed to write the story with dignity for the victim without sugarcoating the horrible circumstances. I adore Luca! His strength and determination to focus on the positive side of life is admirable. The way he burrows into the heart of his "angel" and breaks down Dantes walls is so delightful. Dante is his perfect "Death Bringer". Watching his protectiveness grow stronger and stronger and helping Luca become independent was so heartwarming! And the supporting characters? Brilliant! Courtney proves once again with this book that she can create great love stories from pitch black like this book to super sweet in Outplayed!

It never ceases to amaze me how an outstanding book can be made even more intense by a talented narrator. Harley Chase has done a very good job!

This is a reread for me via audiobook narrated by Harley Chase. Those going in for a first time I advise checking out the content warnings.

I adored Dante & Luca's story the first time and this reread made me love them even more. Both men have endured unspeakable things from a young age and Courtney doesn't shy away from sharing them with the reader. Though harrowing, this dark romance is about survival and love.
