Five Go To Smugglers' Top

Ah, one of my favourite childhood adventure books and made all the better by Jan Francis' narration (although her portrayal of Marybelle was just a little too screechy for my ears.)

Excellent throughout.

Five go to smugglers top

Amazing audio book read with brilliant expressions and the voices are chosen to fit that particular character. Highly recommend this audio book to any readers especially those who enjoy reading adventure and mystery themed books. If you or the listener like Enid blytons books, they are all read by the same person, Jan Francis , so the voices are the same in each book. The Way the speed of the book is read is gripping and you can really imagine the scene as if you are there in person.

Great story

Bought for my son but enjoyed at least as much by me. I wonder how Enid Blyton came up with such tales?!

A Spellbinding Story

This is a spellbinding story as the five go to Smuggler's Top, the home of one of Dick and Julian's school fellows where Uncle Quentin has sent them whilst repairs are being done due to a tree having fallen on part of Kirrin Cottage during a severe storm. Whilst these books are pretty predictable, you just can't help but like them and once you're drawn into the plot you just want to follow the situations these five get into right to the end. True, they're also probably quite dated for today's young generation who certainly wouldn't be allowed to roam about, enjoying picnics and so on as these lot do - parents would be really concerned for their lives - but as I had one of these books read to me and a group of other lads at school, they're just as enjoyable today for me as they were back in 1973 and Jan Francis most certainly does an excellent job as narrator.

A Great Adventure

I first read Enid Blyton 60 years ago. I still love to read (and listen) to her. She is able to write for and about children without talking down to them. These kids are real and likable. Do yourself a favor and listen! Give your children a gift and let them meet this wonderful writer!

This book series is perfect to read aloud as a family. They are full of adventure, mystery, excitement and fun. We've read the first 4 books in the series and my kids want to keep going. That says a lot.
