Most enjoyable and have managed to more or less stick to original text too, makes such a difference!

Splendid!

Bought for my son but enjoyed at least as much by me. I wonder how Enid Blyton came up with such tales?!

Great story

The quality of this recording is not as good as the other famous five recordings Jan Francis has done. It’s the sound quality, sounds really echoey very frequently. Not sure why this isn’t the same quality as the other ones.
No fault with Jan herself or the story.

Echoey recording for some reason

I love the story and the discretion of the people and places were fantastic

This is a spellbinding story as the five go to Smuggler's Top, the home of one of Dick and Julian's school fellows where Uncle Quentin has sent them whilst repairs are being done due to a tree having fallen on part of Kirrin Cottage during a severe storm. Whilst these books are pretty predictable, you just can't help but like them and once you're drawn into the plot you just want to follow the situations these five get into right to the end. True, they're also probably quite dated for today's young generation who certainly wouldn't be allowed to roam about, enjoying picnics and so on as these lot do - parents would be really concerned for their lives - but as I had one of these books read to me and a group of other lads at school, they're just as enjoyable today for me as they were back in 1973 and Jan Francis most certainly does an excellent job as narrator.
