Julian, Dick, Anne, George and Timmy the dog find excitement and adventure wherever they go in Enid Blyton's most popular series.

In book ten, Dick is woken by a light flashing through his window. Is someone trying to send him a coded message? When the Famous Five hear of an escaped convict in the area, they are on red alert.

The police won't help, so the Five have no choice - yet again, they'll be solving this mystery by themselves...

Loved it. Brings back so many memories of my childhood listening to the old tapes on a rainy day.

Brilliant!

I loved the Famous Five when I was a kid. I remember going to the library in the hope of finding one that I hadn’t read. Now, of course, they are a bit tame. Nevertheless this was a good story and I can see how the adventures of these independent and adventurous children would have appealed to me. The are also kind and work together as a team which I find lovely. Like Treasure Island it’s a just plausible adventure. Mind you I find them a bit reckless and relying too much on the kindness of strangers. As a child I found Anne a drip now I think her a very sympathetic character and notice how she does a lot to solve the mystery. Mind you the boys are in charge which dates the work.

This is a great book for kids
