L. M. Montgomery
From the beloved author of Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery - Emily of New Moon (published in 1923) takes us on a journey of loss, friendship, bullying, family dynamics, acceptance, and self-discovery with Emily Byrd Starr, an orphan who must move in with her reluctant Aunt Elizabeth, her loving Aunt Laura, and her jovial and friendly Cousin Jimmy at New Moon on Prince Edward Island.
Emily, a lonely, misunderstood young girl, yearns for love and acceptance, and doesn't quite fit in and is too naive and headstrong for her own good. She finds her way through adolescence as she makes friends with Teddy - a budding artist; Isle - an outstanding reciter; and Perry - a hired boy who is destined for great things; and discovers her passion for poetry and writing while writing letters to her late father on hidden-away letter-bills.
