About this listen

NYT Bestselling Carrie Ann Ryan continues her Montgomery Ink series with a forbidden romance worth the risk.

Decker Kendrick has kept away from her for years, but now his best friend’s little sister is stepping up the game. No matter how hard he’s tried to stay away from Miranda, once she sets her sights on him, there’s no backing down.

Miranda Montgomery has loved her brother’s best friend for as long as she can remember and won’t walk away until he knows how she feels and what they could have together.

Only once they give in to their temptations, not all is at it seems. Decker’s father is out of jail, and someone from Miranda’s past refuses to stay away. And if he isn’t careful, Decker will lose her before they even have a chance.

This book shows that Carrie really is fearless in her writing. With a fantastic performance from Gregory it really has everything. I love how resilient these characters are and the support of the family is amazing.

While far from perfect, I enjoyed books 0.5, 0.6, 1 and 1.5 from the Montgomery Ink series enough to want to continue the series while they were included in the plus catalogue. There was plenty of potential in the relationship between youngest Montgomery sibling Miranda and extremely close family friend Decker. However, I felt somewhat let down by this instalment. In the early stages of the story when sex scenes wouldn’t have been appropriate to the plot the author threw in completely unnecessary sex scenes between book 1’s Austin and Sierra instead of working to build up the sexual tension between THIS book’s main characters. I also wasn’t impressed by the fact 4 out of the 5 books so far in the series include one of the main characters breaking up with the other to protect them from his/her self/baggage/past/family/enemies/whatever and both of the full length books involve one of the bad characters intentionally running someone over with their car. The author needs to get some new material. All in all, I didn’t feel like this book added much to the series. It felt forced and lacked originality. At least the narration was good.

Too much like book 1
