I would pigeon hole this as a romantic thriller, I have to come write out and say it, I enjoyed it, I didn't care about the ludicrous coincidences, it..Show More »'s written well with fun and flair, with entertaining narration by Angela Dawe. Life has not been too great for Kat, she's had to give up a lot in the past now it's time to get her life on track, even if that means being on the bottom of the corporate ladder. Kat works two jobs, a runner in a prestigious law firm, her boss being the witch from hell and a bar maid in the evening in a busy pub, where skimpy costumes seem obligatory. Throw in two alpha males, a murdered prostitute, electoral fraud and some very powerful enemies it becomes apparent that no-one is really telling her the truth. Stupidly naive she has a steep learning curve, but she's like a dog with a bone and no matter the cost will get to the bottom of her friends murder. Worth the credit to escape for a few hours.
So much of this novel, and the series in general, is really enjoyable. With the exception of the character of Kathleen Turner herself! She makes too m..Show More »any stupid/idiotic choices or decisions for my liking! I know that she's a blonde, but she lives up to the stereotype too closely to be credible.
The overall plot, is truly novel and enjoyable, but too often you are distracted from it, by her actions or inaction. It makes for a very frustrating 'read'! A bit like the old chestnut of a woman ALWAYS falling over when she's chased, in movies! There are Far Too Many of those 'plot twists', to be entertaining!
I'll be interested to see how she copes with her new role, given her too frequent tendency to be a damsel in distress. An ability which could lead to a short job/life expectancy!
The narration is fairly good. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate between 3 of the male characters, but given the context, you often work it out.
Given that this is part of the benefits of a Kindle Unlimited subscription, I can persevere with the series. It is unlikely that I would do so, if I had to pay the full price for the privilege. So I shall discover, in due course, if Miss Turner, grows out of her tendency to be a dumb blonde - always needing to be 'rescued'! Because, honestly, that can get tedious.
Best to start with book one 'Turning Point' in this series else you would probably get lost,
Alot more action in this one then the previous ..Show More »two and just as good if you like thriller suspense action with a very uncomfortable would be love triangle. I kinda felt for Kathleen in this one, she's standing firm in her choice, not that it is going to last if the backdoor politic machinations and the other brother has any say.
Blane is not very popular as he is defending a rapist who is guilty, a family member of Kathleen's pops up after years and Kade is being targeted for extermination. Add in the kidnapping and selling of young women, with some very powerful supporters I was not bored.
But I kinda wanted to knock Kade's and Blanes head together, Blane for being so controlling and not seeing Kathleen as she really is, and Kade for sneaking around his brothers back and making matters worse.Still it made for a great romantic tense listen with Angela Dawes narration I just had to keep on listening. Looking forward to Book 4 on my automatic reading list.
I can honestly say that I'm really pleased to have finally finished this series! I know that that is a strange thing to say, but I really didn't enjoy..Show More » this series.
The romantic triangle is a little bit unbelievable; credible in some instances, and incredulous in others! In this conclusion, which was seemingly endless and long drawn out, the benefits of the triangle almost bala
