You absolutely know that Harry will come through for you but along the way he will take you on a roller coaster ride of mistakes, bad judgement, wrong turns and the odd bender. This all makes for a riveting read and you find yourself doing the literary equivalent of shouting at the television! Harry......what are you doing? Harry Hole is one of the most interesting characters I have met (read). In real life you would wonder how he gets by and yet Jo Nesbo writes in such a way that he is so 'real' you think perhaps you are missing something and that maybe this is the way to be. As a hero he has many faults but you cannot help but admire the inner voice that somehow keeps him on the straight and narrow. The story is deftly paced, building twists and turns into the plot with effortless ease. I find myself waiting for the next story and dare I say it the inevitable screenplay. Now there's a question - who would you want to play Harry?

good story, fantastic narration. I plan on continuing the series, although I do wonder how long Harry Hole will last, he is almost killed in each book!

this was a well written and intricate thriller which held you from start to finish. Many twists and turns and a totally unexpected denouement.

This was great. My fourth in the series and probably the best to date. Harry Hole does what he does best - just being Harry Hole. I look forward to number five.
