Only reason I put this down was to sleep and to go to work (I was tempted to phone in sick so I didn't have to go in and could listen to the book, but in the end went in begrudgingly) There was times I worried Mary was steering the story to go a way that I would hate it to go but she pulled me back in and the end was great :) loved it!!! (especially the last 5 minutes :) )
"Ending Left Me Feeling Horrible"
In terms of narrators, it was very good. I felt on edge and the intensity of emotions throughout.
Very unhappy. If an author writes characters in a way that you grow to love them and want happiness for them, then the reader should get that pay off. The very ending and last chapter even, left me feeling sad and almost empty because it is not what I wanted for the main characters. I wanted more and I wanted to see a bigger glimpse of the future.
Raw emotion, stronger character development.
Again, I would rather write my own ending for this story than have the one I got. There is a better way to end it.
A very lackluster ending to a story i have been following for far too long. The only word i have for this ending is bleh. Glad its over.
"Good but Ending was Rushed"
The book was good, but I was left with a feeling of disappointment. You're taken on a great journey throughout most of the book. You get the answers you wanted. Then when THE major event happens something changes. The book starts to feel rushed, like the author's deadline loomed. Timelines advanced quickly in a matter of pages, wrapping up every storyline. The story is told (and ended) so abruptly I felt robbed of the characters story. I felt like we were owed an Epilogue and it was stollen like Morrighan.
I loved this series all of the books were beautifully written and the performance by all of the voice actors was amazing and really brought the books to life. They all kept me enthralled until the very last sentence!
"An Amazing Conclusion!"
I loved that the performance and the plot. I was kept on my toes and guessing as to what was going to happen next frequently as I listened to this book.
One of the most memorable moments occurred when the traitors broke out of their cells and injure an important character. I was so shocked and afraid for this person's life. (I'm not naming who because I don't want to give away too much)
I loved watching Lia use her voice among the other generals and other political advisers. This happened many times throughout the book, but it allowed her to speak up and be heard, which is all she wants.
I did not listen to this in one sitting, but I often tried to listen to it in the car and for long periods of time in my house.
This was an amazing conclusion to this series. I am so sad it's over, but so happy I read it. The cast was marvelous and listening to the audiobook really added to my experience.
"Loved it!! Every scene was filled with emotion."
I am so happy that I decided to listen to the third book in this series instead of reading it. It brought so much life to the story. I also enjoyed the different voices for various characters. It gave them more life and made them easier to imagine.
This was the first book I have listened to on Audible.
I have not listened to other books read by Emily Rankin but I would be happy to try something new
The last 1/3 of the book was very exciting. The emotion was fully portrayed. Events that were suspenseful, thrilling, upsetting, tense, coy, they were all read very well.
"A fitting end to the trilogy"
The trilogy had it ups and downs and the author kept you guessing. Spite the factor the ending was hinted to not being a happy one, the author managed to carve out hope for one.
each character was given a proper ending to thier story as much as possible laid out by the story and the premise of the prophecy. The author did an excellent job compelling the reader to keep going and wanting more.
I would recommend this book to others.
"Well worth the listen!"
Really loved the story, performance, characters. This is definitely one of my favorite books now.
The story had great bones but the flesh of the story failed to join together. It's one of those series that is just good enough to get to the next book then holds just enough promise of a great ending to make it all worth it. However like many a prom night great anticipation and expectation was met with great disappointment. If you've got nothing else its o.k.
"Entertaining in so many ways"
The audio book is wonderful and so is the writing. Beautiful voices that can capture your attention and transport you to .other worlds. The story is so great in many ways. The dialogue and plot are both unique and familiar. This world is where the past and future can collide. The story has a great feminine lead with both physical, female, and otherworldly strengths.
The story begins with her running away from a wedding because she is afraid of losing her independence. She gets captured by a bad guy out to gain power by organizing a grand betrayal that few see coming. It falls to her to thwart his intentions with the help of her betrothed whom she falls madly in love with and an assassin she convinces not to kill her but becomes her ace.
There are medieval elements, ancient aliens, warfare with interesting weapons, woo woo like visions and the sight, love and friendship, family and loss all in this one story.
