Auf einer sogenannten Crowdsolving-Plattform beteiligen sich Hobby-Ermittler an der Suche nach dem Mörder und liefern zahlreiche – mal mehr, mal weniger hilfreiche – Hinweise. Eine Userin, "Astria", behauptet sogar, sie stünde kurz vor der Lösung des Falls, doch dann verschwindet auch sie.
