Summary
Stationed on the Russian Front and now equipped with armoured vehicles, Sven Hassel and his comrades from the 27th Penal Regiment fight on remorselessly... All of them should be dead: Life expectancy on the Russian Front is measured in weeks. But Sven, Porta, Tiny and The Legionnaire fight to the end, not for Germany, not for Hitler, but for survival. Wheels of Terror is a sobering depiction of war's brutalities, and the violence and inhumanity that the history books leave out. Read by Rupert Degas.

Life on the Russian Front during WWII
Narrator does a wonderful job of bringing you into the chaos of war. Looking forward to the next in the series.

The book no German publisher dared print
Read this book in the 1970s. Still as good as it was then. Well performed.

Awesome
I love this series, read it 40years ago, then reread it a few years later. Robert Degas brings the books to life with both high and lows and brings the characters to life. The perfect narrator for this series, I am heart broken he did not narrate the full series.

unforgetably brilliant
What made the experience of listening to Wheels of Terror the most enjoyable?
I read the book as a much younger man, as indeed I read all of Sven Hassels utterly brilliant books.
What did you like best about this story?
All aspects of the whole story
What does Rupert Degas bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
By giving each of these likeable roughs a distinctive accent and voice, he really brings the characters to life, The ideal man for the job.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Certain aspects of the book are heartbreaking, other parts are hilarious. The whole story is an emotional rollercoaster.
Any additional comments?
I am thoroughly delighted that Sven Hassel has at long last been brought into the audible book world. I can't wait for the rest of the works of Sven Hassel to appear in my audible library. Keep up the good work.
