Summary

Victory Disease can infect any organization. Wise leaders recognize this and refrain from thinking, “That could never happen in our company!” The fact is, as shown throughout this book, that this disease has and will continue to infect companies, large and small, in every industry and profession in Corporate America.

Companies that successfully avoid falling victim to this affliction will be those led by humble, agile-minded leaders who ensure prudent steps are taken to recognize and mitigate its symptoms and early warning signs.

Conversely, the companies who succumb to this infectious disease will be led by executives who are so blinded by their organizations’ past successes and accolades they either cannot conceive of the possibility of failure, or as previously mentioned and seen in the examples provided in this book, their hubris and overconfidence is such that they simply reject the notion that it could ever happen to them.
