Summary

The Triumph of William McKinley goes into the great history of the United States post-Civil War era. McKinley, a Civil War hero, embarks on a 30-year journey that would one day land him in the White House. From personal tragedies to political setbacks, nothing would stop this moral Ohio man from reclaiming the White House for the Republican Party.

As McKinley fights for the Republican nomination, he must fight the century-long battle against party bosses. He does so with class and with charisma few could ascertain. His deviation from understood campaign policies helped him easily win the nomination and face off against the young and willful former congressman from Nebraska: William Bryan.

Through willingness to talk about tough subjects and the wisdom and cunning that helped him throughout his career, William McKinley became the President of the United States in 1896.
