So loved this book!
This book was a great jumping off book from Book 1 of the Kingmaker Series. The stakes are high at this college for the children of the world’s wealthiest and cruel criminals. Zoe Romero is in a marriage contract with Rocco Prince, a cruel sociopath. Kingmaker’s is a reprieve, and that’s all.
Miles is a rule-breaker, even by mafia standards. He knows Zoe is off-limits, but he never did the right or safe thing. A deal-maker, he has dreams beyond Kingmakers and the mafia. He loves producing music, dreams of Hollywood and making movies, keeping his finger on what the next big market is. He is a man who provides the Kingmaker students with what they want and he’s damn good at it.
Miles and Zoe have undeniable chemistry. What starts as friendship develops into something complicated. Rocco is dangerous, always lurking, and not having it. Miles’ and Zoe’s love will be tested in ways unimaginable, as their friends and family are drawn into this battle for love and survival.
This book always paves the way to Book 3, as Zoe’s sister Catalina (Cat) is introduced as a Freshman with her own battles.

Good Listen
Miles knew Zoe was off limits but was determined to free her from the contract that has her scared to live. They sneak around thinking that its a secret from those who does not need to know but the consequences are not what they thought would happen. Miles comes up with a fool proof plan to win his girl but will she be let go that easy.

What a Wild and Crazy Ride!!!
My goodness!!!! Where do I even begin? The Rebel is book two in the Kingmakers series and the author takes you on a ride like no other in this book. Kingmakers is a school for the children of mafia families around the world to learn the skils needed to be successful in the mafia world in the future.
This book is actually told by three different characters, which I thought was really interesting, and I was confused about this for awhile, until it really became clear why. Zoe has been promised via a marriage contract set up by their families to Rocco Prince, another student at Kingmakers, and he is completely and utterly horrible to her. Her younger sister Cat is also attending Kingmakers this year, which was a complete surprise to both Zoe and Cat. While Zoe has accepted her fate, both at Kingmakers and with Rocco, she doesn't like Cat being at Kingmakers at all as Cat is more quiet and had other plans and dreams. Miles Griffin is THE REBEL. He has connections and is known for getting people what they want or need. He also has his own dealings and businesses on the side and plans for the future that have nothing to really do with Kingmakers. What he really wants though, is Zoe, and after seeing how poorly Rocco treats her, he will stop at nothing to have her, and let me tell you before all is said and done it is going to get very messy.
I really liked Miles. He was a bit of a creative genius and so very persistent. I loved how much he cared for Zoe and how willing he was to fight for her. I liked how much Zoe cared for her sister and how selfless she was in general. And Cat, Cat was something else. I am just going to leave that here. I cannot wait to get more of her story in the future. She is fierce.
Listening to the audiobook of this story I think truly helped bring forth all the emotions of this heartbreaking, twisted, emotional, and creative story in a way that maybe even reading the story might not....or maybe the narrators just did such a fantastic job. Jeffrey Holz, Lilly Drake and Maeve York all realy did a wonderful job telling this story and I would recommend them all. It truly was a very enjoyable listen. This book was 100% engaging. I absolutely cannot wait to dive into the next book in the series. The author has created a fabulous world with intriguing characters and inventive story lines to get lost in and I want more!!! #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock

Dark Forbidden Mafia Romance
The Rebel by Sophie Lark is a dark forbidden mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York, and Lily Drake. This is the second book in the Kingmakers series.
I absolutely love Sophie's books! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Miles and Zoe. I really enjoyed getting Miles, Zoe, and Cat's points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life
I can't wait for the next book in the series The Bully to be released on audio so I can get Dean and Cat's story.
Jeffrey, Maeve, and Lily did a great job on the narration. They all really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, mafia romances, forbidden romances, academy romances, or romantic suspense.

Incredible Listen with a forbidden love
This was another beautiful written story by Sophie Lark. The Rebel is told in 3 - POV's - Miles, Zoe, and Cat. I felt like this was a great way to tell this story - getting that third perspective from Zoe's sister, Cat really added a much needed element. Miles is ruthless and willing to do anything as long as he can have Zoe and save her from Rocco Prince. I was pulled in immediately into the story and it kept me intrigued until the end. Several twists and turns along the way with a few totally taking me by surprise! A great and entertaining mafia romance.
Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York and Lily Drake, did a great job with narration, making The Rebel, a very enjoyable listen.

A great listen!
I devoured the Brutal Birthright Series and there was no way I wasn't checking out the baby generation of Mafia Elite.
Book 2 of Kingmakers focuses on Miles Griffin, the Heir to the Irish Mafia in Chicago and Zoe Romero. Miles is just doing the bare minimum to pass his classes and having more running his illegal contraband pipeline under the faculties noses. Zoe, is just doing her best to make the most of the safety that Kingmakers provides, knowing that her father intends to sell her out to Rocco Prince when she graduates. When Miles sees Rocco threatening to carve up his betrothed, he cant help but get involved, and then eventually plot how to steal Zoe away from Rocco completely while avoiding the rule of recompense... which poor Ozzie faces much to the horror of the entire school.
This story is told from 3 points of view. Miles, Zoe and her younger sister Kat, if you dont know why you need Kats POV, believe me, its so worth it.
Narration was fantastic, loved this story.

Fantastic book
This dark forbidden romance will trap you from the start, Miles and Zoe's story is one you won't want to miss, it's such a treat and entertaining romance, with emotional turmoil, suspense, and full of action, the chemistry between this pair is palpable and I loved all the secondary characters. This is a series of the Kingmakers but they can be read as standalone, but I will recommend you read them all, this is the second one and I'm looking forward to the rest. Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York and Lily Drake did a fantastic job narrating this book, I recommend all of Sophie Larks audiobooks.

This series is crazy good. One of my favs.
Kingmakers, The Rebel is incredibly clever, fun, dark, twisted and sexy. It ticks all my boxes.
I am addicted to everything about this series and I NEED more, so much more.
Each book in the series features a different couple. I have loved this series unique narration of having 3 voices. The main couple Miles and Zoe, as well as Zoe's younger sister Cat. (There is no love triangle, Cat has her own story)
The Rebel features forbidden first love, mafia families, dangerous situations, college parties, super romantic dates, friendships, and heartbreak.
It's a sign of a great book when you care just as much about secondary characters as you do the heroes. This book does that and it has a moment that will break you down. You will feel like you are in the scene with the characters and your heart will shatter alongside them.

Thrilling adventure at Kingmakers!
Sophie Lark is a mastermind with this series!
I loved the series about the parents yet these are so amazing and leave me in shock, excitement and wonderment. And of course needing more!
Zoe and Miles are the couple focused on in this second book of the series and all of the students have returned to The Kingmakers school. Zoe’s sister Cat is featured as well.
Zoe’s promised to Rocco Prince and is petrified of it. As she should be of the sadistic jerk!
But maybe there’s hope for her in a saviour, Miles. He takes one look at her and knows she is for him and no other will do. However she’s betrothed to another. And this would strictly be against the mafia arrangement. Miles is determined to find a way for Zoe out the arrangement, if only it was money which he has accumulated millions. These two are so sexy hot together they just need to find a way of ending her betrothal. If anyone can Miles will in this book. There is a HEA for this couple too!
Always people fighting each other in this school but it’s no wonder with all these nefarious children from their families who may want nothing more than off some of their opponents. Wowza there so much that happened in this latest book it’s left me reeling. Any nicely segues into the next book for Cat and Dean. Can’t wait for the new school year to get started again.
