Summary

Law professor Thomas Jackson McMurtrie literally wrote the book on evidence in the state of Alabama. But when a power-hungry colleague uses a recent run-in between McMurtrie and headstrong student Rick Drake to end his career, he is left unsure what to do next.

Meanwhile, a devastating trucking accident in Henshaw, Alabama, leaves a young family dead. Drake, now a fledgling lawyer, takes the case against the freight carrier and soon begins to uncover the truth behind the tragedy that is buried in a tangled web of arson, bribery, and greed. On the eve of the trial and with his case unraveling in the midst of a dangerous cover-up that threatens to silence his star witnesses, Drake realizes that only his estranged mentor, Professor McMurtrie, can help him now.

With everything to lose and only justice to gain, will McMurtrie and Drake overcome bad blood to defeat a ruthless adversary? Can the Professor turn back the clock and recover all that he’s lost?

Excellent in all sorts of ways

Initially, at the start, it may seem slightly strange but the lay of the land is being set. The drama that unfolds is tense, believable and the characters are all plausible. The trial itself is well written with twists and turns. A definite one to listen to.

The reader needs to be taught grammar

The story itself is fine but the reader is really not up to a legal thriller. The reader could probably butcher a nursery story. Commas are not full stops, Eric, so don’t read as though they are! Slow down and don’t read like the listener is 5 years old.

Audible, don’t you ever listen to books before you sign off on them? Please try to be a bit more discerning when it comes to readers and narrators. Perhaps give them some guidance and editing?

A poor rehash of John Grisham's first novel

A poorly re-written rehash of "A Time to Kill". A disgraced legal genius making his comeback by helping a portage whilst witnesses are being intimidated, but we all comes good in the end! Bitterly disappointed that i wasted my monthly credit on this book.
