Summary
The Tutorial has progressed in unexpected ways as Jake is soon forced to confront reality....
Jake has finally found a personal goal of his own as he gains a quest to defeat three more Beast Lords before he can face the final opponent of the Tutorial: The King of the Forest. Something he happily does, fully immersing himself in grasping power and gaining levels as he hunts through Dungeons to kill stronger and stronger foes.
In another region of the Tutorial, turmoil amongst the humans quickly died down after a disastrous battle leaves nearly everyone except the Metal Mage William dead.
Will Jake be able to hunt down the King of the Forest before the Tutorial ends? Does William wake up in time to create even more chaos and fulfill his goal of killing everyone? Who will survive till the end and return to Earth once more?
Oh, and will Jake ever get a shirt that doesn’t get ripped apart in every single fight?

A decent litrpg
If your into the genre then I'd recommend this story but there are definitely some gripes I have with it, for example the first book ended somewhat abruptly and then so did this one.
I am aware that this is because of the fact that it was originally written and posted online and therefore does not follow the structure of a more traditional book but in my mind this is no excuse as there was several chapters in this book that felt like a more natural ending to book one around the middle so so my brain go's naturally to why this was the case and my answer is simple "marketing" the author or publisher want the story in ten hour chunks because it looks good rather than being to long or sort and if they can split the story into 20 different books then mo money.
The other criticisms I have are more minor for example the character pov jumps somewhat randomly in the middle of a chapter and on top of that there is like 6 chapters in a row which added new characters to the story, I really disliked this it felt really odd and could certainly have been done better,
I do genuinely like the overall plot and themes of the story the way Gods are portrayed and influence things is interesting the somewhat corny references are enjoyable and the mc doesn't break down and cry every other chapter and gets on with things and while this doesn't really add much to character building it does appeal to my male power fantasy wish fulfilment rather than leaving me shaking my head over how much people cry about how unfair the world is when that is as profound as saying water is wet.
Travis Baldree as always was a joy to listen to

Love the protagonist
I really love the fact that the protagonist is alone a lot of the time and the majority of the chats are with him self. I love his humour and his ark.

A great listen/read
Only on the second instalment of ‘the primal hunter’ and already hooked! Classic tropes of the genre used in interesting and tension building ways keep the story from stagnating. Plus.. battles, dungeons, loot, gods and unbelievable power.. what’s not to like? And as a final foot note, the malefic viper is fast becoming one of my favourite fictional characters! Thoroughly enjoyable.

Exciting
Great follow up to the first book, even more excited for the third. I'm very invested in the world and characters, and I can't wait to see who'll turn up next.

Brilliant!
A great follow up after a slow ish start in the first book.
This one flows well and nice interludes to introduce new characters

Good, but tedious regarding the middle part
The first 3-4 hours and the last hours (after the guardian fights) were absolutely great!
The intermissions were really enjoyable as well.
But I can not help but feel like the middle of the book, fighting with the guardians to get to the king of the forest, was hard to get through. Felt like a chore for some reason. Somehow the writing style was just a bit different.
I have to say that the fights weren't that engaging, but the story progression is what kept me hooked. I suppose that the anticipation of the fight with the king made the precious fights feel like fillers.
Travis Baldree was stellar as always!
