Summary

Where Romy grew up, if someone died you never spoke of them again.

Now 22, she has recently escaped the toxic confines of the cult she was raised in. But Romy is young, pregnant and completely alone - and if she is to keep herself safe in this new world, she has some important lessons to learn.

Like how there are some people you can trust and some you must fear. And about who her family really is, and why her mother ran away from them all those years ago.

And that you can't walk away from a dark past without expecting it to catch up with you...

Shocking, tense and sharply written, The Poison Garden is the gripping new novel from the international best seller and Edgar Award-winning Alex Marwood.

Gripping

A gripping story, full of surprises and quite shocking at times. Absorbing and wonderfully narrated.

Exceptional story & naration

I am a big Marwoid fan but this book, for me, was a step up. the narrator helped, I'm sure but the writing & flow of the story is superb. I could easily read a sequel.

Another chilling Marwood thriller

A unusual book that had me guessing, it was difficult to get used to all the characters at first but after a while thanks to the brilliant narrator you get used to all the different voices and perspectives. Marwood is never afraid to create horrific gruesome and chilling stories and this is no exception.

Not for me

The narrator was good. I finished it but only because I was waiting for? Something.

A journey

Loved the book. A journey of ups and downs through the lives of the Ark cult. Sad, scary and really good detail.

Disappointed

Shame as I was very much looking forward to this book but I found it very tiresome. Totally lost interest just didn’t like the story or narrator.

Hours of my life I will never get back.

I cant belief Alex Marwood wrote this. her other books are do good. it's a really terrible book. Depressing and at times I didn't want to waste any more of my life on it. I forced myself to the end and no reward whatsoever. Miserable, horrible book.

Weak plot & 2D characters

I didn’t find the originality or linguistic skill that I was hoping for. Narration rather bland too.
