Summary
Darkness comes where Nightfall goes....
He has been known by countless names and terrifying deeds throughout the lands of mankind - thief, magic wielder, swordsman, assassin, adventurer. But chief among those names and perhaps the most dangerous of his personae is that of Nightfall, a man - or perhaps the legendary demon himself - gifted with unique powers which any sorcerer would kill to possess.
Yet though Nightfall has always escaped his pursuers by moving on to new realms, new identities, and new enterprises, even the cleverest of beings must occasionally slip. And when this master of the night finally falls prey to a royal trap, he finds the consequences beyond even his ability to evade.
Bound by sorcery and oath to guard and guide a young prince on his quest, Nightfall will need every trick and talent at his command to keep both himself and his idealistic young charge from death at the hands of unknown betrayers.

it was good, and it was free, good narrator, good story, satisfying ending, I would recommend this to anyone with 20 odd hours to spare 😉

Superb discovery
Found this author by accident but what a great piece of work. Such a shame it’s only two books. This could hold its own with a full collection against the likes of Eddings, Brookes and Gemmell.

Love these books
One of my favourite book series. I have loved every MZR book I've read and wish there were more of them. More of them in audio format would also be great.

A perfect listen
While the chapters read slightly like a periodical, the story is masterfully put together, the latter book no less intense than the first. all the characters are wonderfully fleshed out and humanised, easily defying their stereotypes. The narration is a perfect fit to boot, and crystallises the world of Nightfall with his voices.
also appreciated is how nothing is overblown

Good story, skip the intro.
The books themselves are enjoyable fantasy fare but in the introduction the author makes a big deal about how Nightfall being an antihero/villain protagonist is something that had never been done in fantasy. This seemingly ignores a lot of classic fantasy like Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser who had been doing similar things at least 30 years before. She also seems to take stabs at political correctness for no reason and goes on a long diatribe about Nightfall being a villain when both books do everything they can to explain away this supposedly evil proclivities.

Entertaining
I really enjoyed this book. Good pace and plenty of twists. The characters really developed throughout the 2 books. Hope there will be a 3rd.
