Based on the No 1 hit podcast 'The Lazarus Heist'
Meet the Lazarus Group, a shadowy cabal of hackers accused of working on behalf of the North Korean state. It's claimed that they form one of the most dangerous criminal enterprises on the planet, having stolen more than $1bn in an international crime spree. Their targets allegedly include central banks, Hollywood film studios and even the British National Health Service. North Korea denies the allegations, saying the accusations are American attempts to tarnish its image.
In this staggering, global investigation, award-winning journalist Geoff White examines how the hackers have harnessed cutting-edge technology to launch a decade-long campaign of brazen and merciless raids on its richer, more powerful adversaries. It's not just money they're after. The Lazarus Group's tactics have been used to threaten democracies, gag North Korea's critics and destabilize global peace.
From the bustling streets of Dhaka, to the glamorous studios of Hollywood, to the glittering casinos of Macau and the secretive dynastic court of Pyongyang, this shocking story uncovers the secret world of the Lazarus Group, their victims and the people who have tried—and ultimately, so far failed—to stop them.

"Cyber warfare and criminal hacking has never been more pertinent. This a must read to understand the threats currently facing all of us globally." (Annie Machon, author of Spies, Lies and Whistleblowers)

this book is fantastic - already on my 2nd listen
this book is wonderfully written and the authors passion for the topic comes across in the delivery. The narrative is engaging and the explanation of complex cyber principles are well done which makes the more technical elements of the story very accessible to those ( like me ) with only a surface level of knowledge.

Scary what North Korea is up to
Very interesting and a good read. The things that this country is up to and no-one seems able or willing to stop them. They are going to cause serious issues one day, even worse than mentioned in here.

Annoying narration.
Although this was a really interesting subject, I just couldn't stop hearing the endless upwards inflections of the narrator/author. It got really irritating. Possibly needs to be reread by an actor?

Rocket men and hackers!
Geoff does an amazing job of recounting North Korea's history and hacking escapades. He dives deep into their most well known stories, however, this book did not provide me much more insight into the Lazarus group.
Sadly North Korea is too secretive even for Geoff!

Very informative
This starts with an account of the Sony Pictures hack, then broadens its focus to take in everything about what North Korea may be doing in the way of organised crime - which is frighteningly large. You won't be able to predict where it goes next, but it's good to go along for the ride!
