Reimagining society for vampires

I’m not a massive vampire fan but I love this author’s story telling. This one doesn’t disappoint!

Imagine society with vampires and humans living together. Then imagine what would happen when history, cultures and bad behaviours invade that tenuous harmony. In comes a very uncool Detective into a very cold Alaskan town to work out who’s human and who’s vampire and who’s committed the murders. Will there be a cull of the vampire colony????

What a wonderfully creative mind CJ Tudor has. She takes you to another world that feels both fantastical and familiar. She creates characters that the reader can trust to do the job she wants them to in the story. Adding humour into the sub-script for the Detective is right on the money and builds this character to perfection. The misunderstanding and misogyny in both humans and vampires offer a (sadly) familiar framework as the story intensifies and keeps up guessing until the very last sentence!

The narrator brings this story to life in the best possible way.

Loved it!

Absolutely loved Barbara's character and also Tuckers. Really interesting back stories going on here.I can see this becoming a film or TV series. Alex Borstein would be anazing playing the protagonist. Also an open ended finish making way for a series of books. Can't wait for the next one. Great work CJ Tudor.

Best yet from CJ Tudor

Great story and narration.

Love all her books, this one feels a bit like a Stephen King.

Well written

Absolutely brilliant

Interesting different take on vampires combined with a good whodunnit. Loved Barbara as the main character and hope the ending means she’ll be back soon. Very well read.
