Summary

From the New York Times best-selling authors of Welcome to Night Vale and It Devours! and the creators of the number-one podcast comes a new novel set in the world of Night Vale and beyond.

In the town of Night Vale, there's a faceless old woman who secretly lives in everyone's home, but no one knows how she got there or where she came from...until now.

Told in a series of eerie flashbacks, the story of the Woman is revealed, as she guides, haunts and sabotages an unfortunate Night Vale resident named Craig. In the end, her dealings with Craig and her history in 19th century Europe will come together in the most unexpected and horrifying way.

Part The Haunting of Hill House, part The Count of Monte Cristo, and 100 percent about a faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home.

Epic

The exact right amount of darkness. the performance alone, is worth the listen. there are lines in the book that stopped me dead on my tracks between being in shock or laughing. i hoped to get an epic story and I definitely got it.

i loved it

Even though I guessed few key plot points quite fast I enjoyed this story immensely. I liked the action, I liked the descriptions, I loved the composition of the book. I would like a little bit more of Night Vale itself but still it was a really nice story.
The performance by Mara Wilson is flawless. A pure gold.
I think I still liked previous two novel a bit more but still, those were really pleasant time. I'm sure I'll relisted it as many times as the other two Night Vale novels 🖤

I hoped for the best and it over delivered.

I've loved the faceless old woman for so long and her story was utterly captivating. It took me to places I never thought possible. Worth a listen regardless of if you're a Nightvale fan or not.

Finally the origins of the faceless old woman

(who secretly also lives in YOUR home). gripping story, interesting twists and well paced with the different timelines. There is no need to be familiar with the Welcome to Night Vale podcast, only in the last few chapters references are made that spark recognition from the (also enjoyable) podcast.
Mara Wilson narrates the story well, she's easy to listen to.
Recommended for those wanting to venture outside the 'normal' books and enjoy a bit of the bizarre. And then you will know why your keys are never where you left them and is your cat really missing???

Wilson should narrate every book ever

i’ve listened to it every night since it came out, repeating it to send me to sleep, mara wilson’s voice has a soothing quality despite the horrors she’s narrating.
would have liked more about craig, which is why the story didn’t get 5 stars, however i still really enjoyed it, if you can enjoy such a sad story.
