Summary

The ruthless killing of a foreign nobleman plunges Kasper Stark, an enigmatic young officer, into a perilous maze of treacherous intrigue and two-faced diplomacy.

Vienna, 1814. As the powers of Europe gather to negotiate peace, there's little to be found for Kasper Stark, working for the chief of Austria's secret police. In a city rife with schemes and double dealing, every prince and every lady's maid is spying or party to some plot.

When a Prussian count is found dead on the eve of the peace conference, Kasper falls into into a deadly game of revenge and conspiracy. Faced with virtuoso liars, quicksand allegiances, and his own unscrupulous commander, Kasper races to unmask the killer, before the investigation reveals his own impossible secrets.

Clever and engrossing

I can't wait for the next installment of Kasper's story. If it is anything like the first. it will be excellent. Wonderful narration.

Hidden Treasure Unbound

Strange book, strange narration. Punctuation, inflection and pronounciation make such a difference ie "Sending his brother Miles away" or "sending his brother miles away" which is it? As the MC is a woman hiding as a man, with the Aussie twang male reader reading he or she for the MC, and as there is little difference in the character voices it is just very very confusing! I stopped after an hour.

BUT the next day, intrigued by how the MCs were now developing, I continued and am so glad I did. This is a fully fledged action thriller containing a romance. Lol the kissing with moustaches on is amazingly funny given the context. WHERE is book 2 !!!!

EXASPERATINGLY GOOD
