Summary
Winner of the British Book Awards, Book of the Year, 2005.
A murder in the silent, late night halls of the Louvre reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected by a clandestine society since the days of Christ. The victim is a high-ranking agent of this ancient society who, in the moments before his death, manages to leave gruesome clues at the scene that only his cryptographer daughter and her symbologist friend can untangle. The duo becomes both suspects and detectives searching not only for the murderer, but also the stunning secret he was charged to protect.

"Brown's intricate plot delivers more satisfying twists than a licorice factory." ( Booklist)

Excellent
Excellent book, as the sales figures would suggest! Very well paced plot, and good narration. Strongly recommended.

My first Audible book...impressed!
This is my first experience of an audio book and I was pleasantly suprised. I thought I'd start off with some fiction, and with all the surrounding hype thought this would be a good listen...and yes it was! As people have already mentioned the actual story was a little predictable (hence only 4 stars), but the detail and 'facts' were fascinating, enough to warrant a little extra research on the subject matter. Jeff Harding does a great job narrating the story, and his pace and style kept me hooked throughout, so much so that I'd listened to the whole book in two evenings!

I have grown to love this story.
Henry Lincoln's wonderful programnes gave me the basic impetus and Dan Brown has iced the cake of a great party.

Engaging and steady paced
A lot of audio books seem to move really quickly or really slowly. This is well paced and engaging along the way. I'm a fan of Dan Brown anyway so perhaps I'm a bit biased, but anyone who enjoys a good mystery will enjoy this one. Some surprising differences to the movie too!

Great Story, Great Narrator
I’m a bit late to the Dan Brown train but now I’m here, I’m not getting off.
The narration is even better to keep me entertained whilst listening. I’d recommend to anyone looking for a new book to listen to, story line is fascinating!

Who knew?
This story lures you into a world of alternate and hidden meanings. Even the word Da Vinci masks the origins of cyphers and cryptology, symbolism and metaphors, easier to understand.
it's astounding how the author toys with the listener with the name of the book. Showing a way to truely understand why Robert Langdon is the master of subterfuge. When you realise what the primary code used in the book is, it allows the listener to understand the complexities that make the book such a surprise. You probably already guested it...use the following code to unravel the real essence of the book...
For Da Vinci, read Dav Inci...
Let's face it, how can a 14th century painter come up with an alternate view of Christianity? Google hadn't even been invented then.
if you like the movie, you'll like this as it's essentially a screen play. Apart from the ending. but you'll have to listen to find out. Or skip to the last chapter if you can't be bothered.
