Summary

Sophy Hadlow does not want to return for another London Season. Her own debut into Society was marred by self-consciousness and her cringing embarrassment every time she was announced as ‘The Lady Sophronia Hadlow’. Yet, much to her dismay, Sophy is back in London to oversee the debut of her younger sister and their wild cousin, Susan Tyneham, who risks ruining both her own and her innocent cousin’s chances of marriage.

Sophy, a most reluctant chaperone, is left to guide her sister and attempt to keep Susan from complete disaster, all whilst dealing with her own unexpected feelings for the disarming Lord Rothley.

Charming but annoying…

The story is beautifully presented but one of the characters- Susan - I found so irritating that I am actually glad the book and story is finished - even so I would have loved hearing more about Sophie …

No one of my favourites by this aithor

I usually really enjoy the books by Sophia Holloway but not this one. I took a real dislike to Susan which I found difficult to overcome, I dont think it was helped by the voice used for her by the narrator which made her sound much older than her years and more wordly wise. I felt that Sophie and Harriet did not have a large enough presence in the whole thing.

Charming

The story has engaging characters and good pace so the predictable plot is not a disappointment. The narrator is very good.

So sad it’s finished!

Enjoyable and witty I just had to keep listening. I have listened to all the others and look forward to the next book by Sophia Holloway.

Excellent listen

This for me was one of the authors finest listens. Great story and as always, narrated by the best in the business. Lewis

An unpredictable story, beautifully narrated

So many stories are fairly predictable, in terms of where they will end, not so this one. It was genuinely interesting to follow the storylines for the three ladies in this story. Narrator, Matt Addis, brought his usual characterisation, which made it extremely enjoyable to listen to, and helped to bring the story alive

Delightful

I have loved all of Sophia Holloway’s Regency novels and this was just as enjoyable. I listened to most of it with a smile on my face and so enjoyed get to the hea. Matt Addis could read the phone book and make it sound amusing - and his male characters, the good ones, sound incredibly attractive. I am always a sucker for witty banter, twinkling eyes and a rueful smile! This is my form of escapism - and Ms Holloway’s books are a tonic for the soul.

Regency gold

It's rare these days to find a new author as good as this one. While Lady Sophy and her entertaining entourage of sister, cousin and suitors for all three, go through the highs and lows of a London season, the real question seems to be will any of them get their happy ever after, or will it end in scandal and tears? What a story, we even have an impromptu sort of duel, I feel like I've struck listening gold here.

Big fan

I thoroughly enjoy Sophia Holloway's books - this one no exception, although the heroine had her man well before the end and it wasn't really dependent on the carriage chase. That said, I pre-ordered the book and devoured it in a couple of days. Can't wait for the next one. And I can't get enough of Matt Addis who is my absolute favourite narrator.

Just... dull

This was an unexpectedly disappointing listen. Not only was the book unnecessarily long, the story was painfully predictable. The central couple had their moments, but overall a fairly mild and unexilerating romance. The secondary romances felt slightly baffling to be honest and so much more could have been made of the arc with Susan. Matt Addis did a good job narrating as usual but I was bored silly by the end of the book and only persevered so as not to feel I had totally wasted a credit.
