Summary
Sunny is a refreshingly honest, hilarious and biting novel about love, family and mental health from actor, comedian and writer Sukh Ojla.
This actually is a love story, just not the one Sunny was looking for....
Sunny is the queen of living a double life. On the one hand, she's 30, flirty and thriving. But on the other, she's just moved back in with her parents while all her friends are getting married, buying houses and having babies. To complicate matters further, she's a secret serial dater, sneaking out of the house every night, leaving her parents with a trail of little white lies.
But one day, her two lives collide in her parents' hallway as she's trying to slip out the front door under the cover of darkness.
Only the truth will get her out of this one. But to Sunny's horror, her mum isn't as appalled as expected, and instead offers a strange deal. Sunny can keep going on dates, as long as Sunny's mum gets to choose who she dates. What could be worse?!
After numerous cringeworthy, awkward and sometimes soul-destroying dates, Sunny has the chance to stop lying to her mum and start being honest...about everything.
Sunny by Sukh Ojla is a relatable, hilarious and life-affirming novel. It is biting and disarmingly honest, exploring family, love and mental health. Perfect for fans of Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams, Grown Ups by Marian Keyes and Olive by Emma Gannon.

Engaging and thoughtful
Extremely relatable story of a young woman developing her own identity separate from her family and the community in which she has grown up, and deciding which of society's expectations match her own values. Also has great insight into what makes for healthy friendships, romantic relationships, and family ties. Written (and narrated) by a wickedly funny comic who gives Sunny a clear, wry voice. The book is full of complex, fully human, flawed and funny and brilliant and wonderfully infuriating female characters. It's a must read/listen.

So real and relatable
Burst into tears more times than I’d care to admit because of how scarily relatable it is. Searingly real how she talks about insecurities and fears and of course the Indian family institution. Loved every bit of it!

Sunny delight!
I've seen Sukh live as a stand-up comedian and on the stage in Pyar Actually which she wrote and performed in.
When I heard Sunny was out this year, I could not wait, I also knew there was only one way to enjoy it - AUDIO! If you loved Sukh before, you'll love her even more now. The story was so entertaining, funny, sometimes upsetting but inspiring and fresh.
I hope there will be more and I am watching this space to see what is in store for Sunny next. Brilliant - you will find yourself rooting for this remarkable young woman. 5 *****
P.S I am not Punjabi or Indian but the jokes is relatable to any culture lol. What are you waiting for, download it today!
