Editor reviews
Brandon Sanderson’s brilliant second instalment in the epic fantasy series The Stormlight Archive, Words of Radiance, rivals anything dished up by other masters of the genre. In this thrilling audiobook, various factions vie for control of the magical Shard artefacts whose mysterious power is in great demand. As war looms on the horizon, aristocratic dynasties struggle for power. Available from Audible, Words of Radiance: The Stormlight Archive, Book 2 is narrated by the team of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer and is perfect for fans of Game of Thrones.
Summary
Book two of the Stormlight Archive.
From the best-selling author who completed Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time series comes an original new creation that matches anything else in modern fantasy for epic scope, thrilling imagination, superb characters and sheer addictiveness. Return to a planet swept by apocalyptic storms, a world tipping into war as aristocratic families move to control the shard blades and shard plates, ancient artifacts from a past civilisation that can win wars.
As the world tips into a war for control of the mythical artifacts of power made from Shard, characters are swept up into new dangers which will threaten their integrity and their lives. Huge ideas-filled, world-spanning fantasy from a master of the genre.

It just keeps getting better.
Even better than the first in the series, which I loved. I am converted.
Now on a mission to read or listen to every word written by Brandon Saderson.... ever....
My kind of escapism.

Brilliant, epic, enthralling.
Would you listen to Words of Radiance again? Why?
Such an epic and detailed if somewhat initially complex story. A second read would help me appreciate what I missed the first time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Words of Radiance?
So many memorable things but the development of Khaladin and his relationship with his spren(?) is amazing.
Best moment is when Dalinars son is getting his butt royally kicked and his father pleads for someone with honour to help. Khaladin responds with "honour is dead. But I'll see what I can do".
Which character – as performed by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading – was your favourite?
Khaladin was my favourite and I liked Stick. I am a stick.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yep. Far too long for one sitting though but if I could have stayed awake long enough I would.
Any additional comments?
Worth using the wiki on this series as you read to help clarify what's going on as initially if can be quite confusing.

Very slow at parts, but overall enjoyable
This book is suffering from slow paste throughout a big part of the middle section. This, unfortunately offers relatively little to keep the listener engaged and I found myself interrupting my listening of this book for multiple months. While the story is still enjoyable overall and I am glad I picked it up again, this might be more frustrating for others. I would still recommend this to my friends, but I would warn them before about this issue

Steven Pacey should narrate every audiobook ever.
Kate Reading made this audiobook difficult to listen to. Yarb's strange seesaw, cringe worthy French accent made me shed a tear.

Keeping to the brilliance of the first book
the second book keeps the momentum and mystery of the first book, while taking it to a whole other level. it kept me excited chapter after chapter throughout the entire book. a masterpiece of an Epic. Sanderson has done it again!
