Summary

Sequel to the extraordinary The Name of the Wind, The Wise Man’s Fear is the second instalment of this superb fantasy trilogy from Patrick Rothfuss.

This is the most exciting fantasy series since George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire and a must for all fans of HBO's Game of Thrones. Picking up the tale of Kvothe Kingkiller once again, we follow him into exile, into political intrigue, courtship, adventure, love and magic...and further along the path that has turned Kvothe, the mightiest magician of his age, a legend in his own time, into Kote, the unassuming pub landlord.

Packed with as much magic, adventure and home-grown drama as The Name of the Wind, this is a sequel in every way the equal to its predecessor and a must for all fantasy fans.

Engaging and gripping, The Wise Man’s Fear is the biggest and the best new fantasy novel out there.

Except story telling

Great book with a clever plot and superbly told by a master narrator. Awaiting the next book.

honestly, one of the best performances of all time

The story is just amazing.
Rupert Degas is absolutely phenomenal at his art, and yes, it is art what he does!
The book is 150+ chapters and worth every damn second of listening! I'll be listening to this one a few times I'm sure! Brilliant!

Better than the first book. Same great narrator

This is such a great tale. I'm genuinely sad it is over. The narrator is fantastic.

Entertaining

Story was good, but the shift from the main character being a child prodigy into an upper average university student was at times quite jarring and I was not perfectly happy with how the character developement was handled.

Still, overall the story was entertaining and well worth a listen.

I love these books.

Degas reads this most beautifully. But Kvothe is the star. I love the way he evolves in this series. Please, please write the third in the series, Mr Rothfus

Almost 43 hours and not long enough! :(

Completely loved the first book despite it not being my type of book per say. This book is just as good. It is more varied in setting, you find out way more about the back story. Everything I loved about the first book I love about this. Just so sad it had to end having very little hope of the next one coming out any time soon. The best series I have ever read on pure enjoyability and addictiveness.

Should have been edited

As a sequel, this books offers more of what madebthe first book exceptional but the problem is that it tends to drag at time with inane and cringy passages and dialogues thay revolve around sex. Sometimes it reads like a bad teenage fantasy but it's saving grace is the authors amazing worldbuilding that successfuly avoids most of the usual fantasy tropes.
