"A great series!"
Very well done for a Star Wars audiobook. Even though it is abridged, the 6 hour run-time leaves enough material to make this audiobook entertaining. That said, you can still notice gaps where, I assume, material was cut out for the abridgement. This can be annoying after a while. I won't beat around the bush, I loathe any abridgement and I would encourage people to complain to the publisher so that they will begin releasing unabridged versions of these books. Other than that, this book was excellent. Marc Thompson is one of the most talented narrators that I have heard. It is a pleasure to listen to him. The different character voices that he assumes throughout the book are executed flawlessly and I had to keep reminding myself that it was the same person speaking. The writing, sound production, and music were all top notch. I would give this 5 stars if not for the abridgement.
One last thing, stay away from any of the star wars audiobooks that are less than 6 hours in length. They are so butchered by the abridgements, that they are not worth your time or money. Quite a few of these are narrated by Anthony Heald and he is just plain awful. I found this out the hard way. Just remember, Anthony Heald = extremely poor narration. Jonathan Davis = Extremely good narration. Marc Thompson = Outstanding narration.
"One of the best star wars stories"
This book is now one of my favorite of all the star wars stories. Great writing. The narration and production value is also quite exceptional.
I loved the entire "Legacy of the Force" series, and Troy Denning's writings in the Star Wars mythos are great.
"Another 'edge of your seat' chapter"
Yet another great storyline, as well as a great production. The LOF series has met and exceeded my temptations...leaving me yet again waiting for the next installment.
"Action. Pulse Pounding, Gut Wrenching, Constant Action"
After Jacen Solo killed his aunt in the previous novel, his ascendency to the mantle of Sith Lord was assured. Inferno takes the newly anointed Darth Caedus to new levels, as a deeply personal story gives fleeting hope for redemption, and quickly snuffs it out with heinous genocide.
The story begins with Ben Skywalker having already figured out the identity of his mother's killer, and carries him through an arc of investigation and vengeance that leads to his eventual capture by his mad cousin. This, in turn, is followed by a vicious and climactic confrontation between Jedi Master and Sith Lord that separates the Jedi from the Galactic Alliance they helped build.
This is one of those books you just don't want to put down. As Legacy of the Force goes, Inferno is among the best in the series, telling a heartbreaking story of good versus evil, and showcasing the depths of paranoia and selfishness to which powerful men sink.
"great book I look forward to the next"
I love Star Wars and have read every series of books but this one on paper back. this is my first audible book and I really enjoyed it; Also this is in my top ten star wars series's for sure.
good book enjoyed it, wish it was ant an abridged version of the book a.
"Another audio issue short book."
Abridged book is not worth the money. Audio quality issues are very distracting.
Many audio issues. The audio keeps getting cut off at the beginning of many sentences. If the narrator says "She" is sounds like "E" so you have to constantly piece together what they are saying. I ended up cancelling my membership because Audible does not take the quality of these recordings seriously.
the narrator march thomson he brings the book to life trust me he is the topnotch narrator and i mostly try to look for his audiobooks. legacy of the force everything is involved love betrayel thrill excitement revenge . Just love this trilogy
"Not Up to Par With the Previous Novels"
While I did enjoy the ending, ultimately this book is just forgettable. The writing isn't that great, the story is lackluster, and the characters rather boring.
I enjoyed Jacen at first. His slow and steady turn towards the darkside was interesting, and despite it really just being a rehash of Anakin's fall (wanting to unite the galaxy and achieve peace through fascism, all while trying to save his hidden lover and child? Really? Okay...), I did feel like it was being done better in these novels than in the prequel trilogy.
This book just feels like more filler. Almost as if certain plot points could just be put into another book, and leave this one in the same room as Exile
Probably not the next book in the series. I think I'm done using my credits on these.
Marc Thompson has been the shining light in this series that's steadily decreased in quality. His voice acting is fantastic, and combined with the sound effects and music, he makes it a good listening experience to say the least.
Disappointment more than anything. And boredom comes in at a close second.
I liked the ending, I'll give Denning that. I won't spoil anything, but things do come together in a satisfying way.
