Summary

When the biggest rock star in the world invited me into his home, there was one rule:

Don’t touch his daughter.

For a kid from the wrong side of the tracks with no future, the offer should have been a dream come true.

Classy new digs.

A fancy prep school.

Someone who cares what happens to me.

Except for that rule.

The rich pricks at my new school worship me. I couldn’t care less.

She's the one person who makes me feel worthwhile.

I want to save her from the turmoil eating up her picture-perfect world.

But she thinks I’m her rival: for her friends, her future, her father’s love.

I should keep my distance.

Avoid rescuing her from the assholes at school.

Definitely pretend I can’t see in her bedroom window from the pool house.

There are only two obsessions my life—music…and her.

All I have is my talent to set me free.

But my future will burn if I can’t stay away.

Rivals is an epic, angsty romance featuring two people from opposite sides of the track forced together by a forbidden love that could cost them everything. Listen today and find out if the damaged boy in the pool house can be the happily ever after she’s looking for!

Note: If you have previously listened to A Love Song for Liars, A Love Song for Rebels, and a Love Song for Dreamers, the new Rivals book also contains an extended epilogue short story.

Great Boxed Set!

A Love Song for Liars is the first installment in the Rivals Series, a second generation series, and rock star romance. Annie and Tyler's story is well written and emotional. This is a great introduction to their story. Annie is Jax Jamieson's daughter from the Wicked series. She is sweet, kind, and beautiful. Tyler is enigmatic and handsome. They are both interesting characters. Their story is complex, slow paced and emotional.

A Love Song for Rebels is the second installment in the Rivals Series. Annie and Tyler's story continues where the first installment left off. The storyline is engaging and entertaining, filled with angst, and twists and turns. The story ends with a big cliffhanger.

A Love Song for Dreamers is the third installment in the Rivals Series. Annie and Tyler's story continues where the second installment left off. I love them together. The storyline is heartbreaking, filled with angst, and twists and turns.

I loved the extended epilogue short story!

Teddy Hamilton and Rose Dioro did an outstanding job with the narration. I enjoyed it! #ValentinePR

Great progression

Rivals is 3 books in 1 so we get to follow Annie and Tyler's story from School onwards. I liked that we got a bit of back story as to why Annie hated Tyler at the beginning of the story. I enjoyed this the more it went on. I wasn't a huge fan of the 1st story with the bully aspect and the High school petty nonsense but I'm sure others would enjoy it. The progression with the characters was good and it was good seeing them grow and develop. Over all an enjoyable book. I will definitely go and try the Wicked series to get more from the other characters in this story. I really liked the narrators. Rose Dioro gave Annie a really delicate and innocent voice which suited her character and you can't go wrong with Teddy Hamilton he brought the gruff gravely sound to Tyler that was perfect. I will definitely go and try the Wicked series to get more from the other characters in this story. If you like musician based stories with a good dose of angst and drama pick this up.

Really cute!

Rivals Overall:

Story: 4 ⭐️
Steam: 3 🔥 starts more YA then grows to NA with light smut
Audio: 5 🎧

This audiobook was fantastic! The narrators both did an amazing job and brought the story to life!

I love that this trilogy was combined to make one book! I think it’s the perfect way to listen to long stories like this and I loved getting the full story in one sitting! Annie and Tyler were so sweet. This story followed them from about 16/18 to about 21/23. There are ups and downs but we get to end on an HEA!

See below for my breakdown of each section of the book.

**POSSIBLE MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD**

♥️BOOK 1♥️

Story: 4.5 ⭐️
Steam: 1 🔥 no smut

Kicking off this trilogy, our couple is at the end of their high school years and have a forbidden aspect to them. Don’t wanna upset rockstar daddy lol I didn’t read the trilogy about Annie’s dad and stepmom but if I enjoy this whole thing I will definitely go back and check it out. I liked the beginning of this story even though I’m not usually a fan of books about musicians. I think I’m gonna like the rest too! I’m glad this stopped at a place where there is a clear divide between books 1 & 2 and it doesn’t just feel like it’s getting another book to drag out the story. So far so good!

♥️BOOK 2♥️

Story: 4 ⭐️
Steam: 3 🔥
Audio: 5 🎧

Ah I love this. Seeing Tyler and Annie rediscover each other after high school was so sweet. I love their connection and how they both actively support each others dreams. It’s so cute. The end was just *exploding head* very anxious to see what happens next!

♥️BOOK 3♥️

Story: 3.5 ⭐️
Steam: 3 🔥
Audio: 5 🎧

I loved Annie & Tyler’s HEA. I think they both worked hard for it and the ending they got was so sweet and I loved it. However, the first 3/4 were definitely the part of this story I liked the least. I felt like this second big breakup of theirs was just… small. It felt very sudden and almost unrealistic. I felt like although they both grew so much, majority of that growth was always apart from each other. They seem to not be able to grow together and that was a little frustrating. I felt a tad disconnected from that whole aspect of the story. I’m glad the trilogy was tied up but I feel a little frustrated with how we got there.

New Adult Romance - Box Set (Books 1-3)

Rivals by Piper Lawson is a new adult romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Rose Dioro.

This box set includes A Love Song for Liars, A Love Song for Rebels, and a Love Song for Dreamers, an extended epilogue short story.

This was the first series of Piper's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first book and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship between Annie and Tyler. It's messy and a bit of a rollercoaster. But I couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout each book. It really brought the story to life.

Teddy and Rose did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this series if you like new adult romances, friends to lovers romances, second chance romances or rockstar romances.

Well thought out rockstar romance

A fantastically well thought out rock star romance that spans years. Admittedly the first half was slow as the author built the relationship and I really liked especially how deeply the author went into both the characters as their lone characters and as a couple. Loved the supporting characters as well. I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Rose Dior’s and they were absolutely perfect for the character. Perfect pacing, wonderful transitions and as usual, a great ability to play multiple characters. Rose’s male voice was a little weaker but overall, a fantastic listen.

Loved Annie and Tyler!

I could not get enough of Annie and Tyler! Two very broken souls trying to love each other with so much in the way. Piper Lawson spins this heartbreaking tale of star-crossed lovers. The Rebel King and The Rockstars Daughter.
I am so wrapped up in this story. Happy I bit the bullet and dove in. I am so overly enthralled with this. Annie and Tyler find themselves not only in the same state, same city but the same school. They finally admit to being in love - and like all great books - it all goes downhill from there. The obstacles these two must face to make their love work in truly a story of love & dedication.
Annie and Tyler struggling to work through the accident and how Tyler is dealing with the physical aspects and the mental. Annie knows this is not the best Tyler he can be and has to make some really tough choices to love him and keep him unhappily or let him go and allow him to grow. This was a tough book for me emotionally. I wanted to cry so many times. I adore Annie and Tyler together, but I also love the strength they have apart. Piper Lawson really knows how to build strong characters that you just want to root for all the time.
The narration Teddy and Rose perform for this book was stellar. Rose embodied Annie and brought her to life, while Teddy broke your heart expressing the pain Tyler has inside. Amazing.

I didn’t enjoy it as much as I expected

I’m sad to say it wasn’t a bad book at all, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I expected.

It was first published as three separate books, each a moment in Annie and Tyler’s life, and though the first part was endearing, it became tiring fast when they kept making decisions that kept them apart. I felt like they didn’t learn from their past mistakes.

In the first part, Annie and Tyler are still in high school. She’s the little black sheep, he’s the school’s star, and though they knew each other before–and were friends–their place in the school’s hierachy creates some tension between them. Even the fact that Annie’s father is Tyler’s mentor and he has welcomed him in their home doesn’t make their relationship better. Of course, it’s denial and forbiddance that keep them apart, and they’re slowly accepting their feelings. But there’s a major obstacle between them. Tyler wants to pursue a career in music, and Annie’s father refuses her the same–he’s a music legend.

Part 2 is a couple of years later. Annie is a rebel, and is lying to her father to attend a music school. Tyler has had some bad luck with his career, and ends up at the same school, waiting for his next opportunity. You can imagine some of the dramas Annie’s lies create. But they reconnect. Until an unexpected twist that pushes them apart once again.

The last part is a few more years later. They both have a successful career, and that’s what is in the way of their happiness. They’ll have to make a choice. Again.

There were some seriously good elements. Tyler’s rocky relationship with his father, though completely off the page, defined a good deal of Tyler’s personality. Same with Annie’s relationship with her father, and how going against him is her way to find herself. Though talent was often emphasized, the author also insisted on the value of hard work, and that was what made a difference in Annie’s and Tyler’s careers.

A couple other aspects bothered me a lot though. For instance, in the first book, the bullying Annie was subjected to annoyed me to no end. It was petty and extreme, and the people going along with it deserved no sympathy… including Tyler. And by the middle of part 2, I wanted to shake them both so they stopped making stupid choices. I ended up not totally believing they were made for each other, as the author wanted me to.

Though the narrators are seriously talented, and usually do an excellent job, I caught a handful of mistakes that bothered me–probably because I’m not used to them with those narrators. Like a breath taken at the wrong place in a sentence, things like that. Not a lot, thankfully, and despite that, they knew how to express Tyler’s and Annie’s feelings perfectly, the male narrator with some cockiness in his voice, and the female narrator with the right energy for Annie.

A love meant to be!

Rivals is the story of Annie & Tyler. It has not been easy, and their love has been tested. With the three books, Piper Lawson gives us all the feels, from high school through adulthood as they work their way through. First book Annie is a junior in high school, and recently moved in with her famous, semi-retired rock star father, Jax. She remained friends with Tyler, even though miles apart, that is until her father brought him to live in the pool house and help him with his music. Tyler too is a junior, instantly popular, and things at school are not fun. Their tumultuous friendship is leads them down the road of missing each other, plus leads to greater feelings. Book 2, Annie is off to college, but not where her father is anticipating. She is out to prove her talent, but what she finds is some unfinished business! Tyler is attending the same school, but she has no intentions of giving him the time of day. Tyler has other plans. And just wait until Annie's dad realizes her ruse. And Book 3, Annie and Tyler have been tried and tested with their relationship, and it never seems to be the right time for them. This is the third book in their journey, and it starts off where we left off. And it's still not the time. Circumstances beyond their control has once again separated the two and now they are now on separate journeys. And bringing it all to life is Rose Dioro and Teddy Hamilton, with their amazing talents and performances.

Rockstar romance all in one

This is the story of Tyler and Annie, we know them from Wicked, a previous series. This can be read as a standalone, but I strongly recommend you read also the other series. This set includes A Love Song for Liars, A Love Song for Rebels, and a Love Song for Dreamers, with an extended epilogue. The audiobook is narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Rose Dioro, they both did a superb job portraying their characters, and their pacing and sound quality were fantastic. I think they gave the story a whole new experience.
