Angels and saints. Catholics tend to think of them as different from the rest of us. They're cast in plaster or simpering on a holy card, performing miracles with superhero strength, or playing a harp in highest heaven.
Yet they are very near to us in every way. In this lively audiobook, Scott Hahn dispels the false notions and urban legends people use to keep the saints at a safe distance. The truth is that Jesus Christ has united heaven and earth in a close communion. Drawing deeply from Scripture, Dr. Hahn shows that the hosts of heaven surround the earthly Church as a "great cloud of witnesses". The martyrs cry out from heaven's altar begging for justice on the earth. The prayers of the saints and angels rise to God, in the Book of Revelation, like the sweet aroma of incense.
Dr. Hahn tells the stories of several saints (and several angels too) in a way that's fresh and new. The saints are spiritual giants but with flesh-and-blood reality. They have strong, holy ambitions - and powerful temptations and opposition that must be overcome. Their stories are amazing and yet familiar enough to motivate us to live more beautiful lives. In this telling of their story, the saints are neither otherworldly nor this-worldly. They exemplify the integrated life that every Christian is called to live.
Still, their lives are as different from one another as human lives can be. Dr. Hahn shows the heavenly Church in all its kaleidoscopic diversity - from Moses to Mary, Augustine to Therese, and the first century to the last century.
Only saints will live in heaven. We need to be more like the saints if we want to live in heaven someday. Dr. Hahn shows us that our heavenly life can begin now.

Really helped me understand the roles of angels & saints in our day-to-day life.
The advice on speaking to our guardian angels and also to the guardian angels of our loved ones to help us in prayer.
I enjoyed the chapter on Therese of Liseaux
The chapters on the life of the saints - and also how the saints are involved in our lives today.
Scott Hahn reads it really well.
"Wonderful, thoughtful introduction to major saints"
As a new Catholic I'm devouring all of Scott's books because they are both practical and theologically fulfilling. Some of his personal stories are sometimes rehashed as making points. iI prefer him reading his own books as he has a great speaking voice.
Truth revealed beautifully!! A very simple and very personal presentation of a not so popular truth. Very easy to listen to.
"Be a saint!"
Loved this quick glimpse at the saints. Several new quotes to live by emerged from these pages!
"Not what I expected"
I'm not sure about changing the book. I just thought it would tell the stories of some of the Saints but it did not. Its not that kind of book.
It wasn't interesting to me.
No, but it wouldn't translate into a movie either.
"great insights on angels and saints!"
brought about points that I have never really pondered. lots of scriptural references, and a very interesting and informative read.
"Awesome Rendition of Angels & Saints"
Very awe inspiring rendition of the life of saints, one that isn't necessarily a state of sin-less-ness but life of folks that just never gave up, the most profound of which is our Lady Queen of all saints. I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
Good but not greatly enlightening. More of a sermon series than a study. Worth while.
Enjoyed every moment, I learned so much by listening on my way to and from
work each day.
"A must read for Catholic Christians esp. Catechist"
I REALLY ENJOYED IT!
This book whet my apetite. I want to read more on this topic. Now i understand why it is so important to really understand the rich history and Traditions of our Christian Faith.
All Christians will benefit, and be blessed from taking the time to read about this rich heritage as outlined here by Mr.Hann. It is VERY comforting and life affirming to know that we are NOT alone in our Faith Walk. There are so many in heaven and on earth who are constantly cheering us on.
I also loved that it was performed by the author too. Mr. Scott Hann is an excellent speaker, and lecturer. I always enjoy listening to him. He REALLY EDUCATES me. I love his voice.
The only thing I missed was the "voices" or "voice impressions" that my favorite male Vocal Performers are known for. It would have been a real treat to hear their impressions of some of the more colorful Saints like Sts. Jerome, Augustine, and Athenasious. I happen to really love to hear the performers get into the roles as they read the quoted texts. That's my only reason for holding back one star. I will definitely buy it again if my favorite performer chooses to read it too.
I highly recommend this book and most books by this author.
"A must read"
I loved it! Brilliantly written and narrated. Educational and inspiring. I recommended this book on Facebook!
