Summary
What do you do when you find out that your child has special needs? Nothing prepares you for the shock of receiving a negative diagnosis for your child. The emotional rollercoaster that comes with it can leave you feeling lost and confused. You are suddenly thrown into a different world, grappling with trying to understand your child’s condition and how to care for them.
While the caring journey may seem complicated and isolating, you can find the help and support you need in this book.
This book will:
- Help you cope with receiving a negative diagnosis for your child
- Show you how to manage your emotions
- Provide tips and ways to manage depression, stress and anxiety
- Help you to navigate your family relationships
- Show how to work effectively with the school and health system
- Help you prepare for the future for you and your child
This book gives parent carers advice and strategies to be effective parents to a child with a life-limiting condition or a disability. It provides encouragement for the present and hope for the future. I hope that, irrespective of the prognosis for your child, you will find the comfort and the strength you need to succeed in your caring journey.

Bose Adelaja, Pastor, Author
"As a special needs parent, disability advocate, and councillor, I wholeheartedly recommend this book to families seeking guidance and support in raising a child with any form of disability. Moreover, it extends its relevance to families grappling with life-altering diagnoses, such as cancer or acquired disabilities from accidents. Grace's book comprehensively addresses navigating these challenges and keeping your head above water, making it an indispensable resource."
Councillor Bisi Osundeko, Director, Joy and Joe Baby
"This book is a fantastic and valuable resource for parents, carers and family members, and it will also serve as a great comfort to those caring for children with disabilities. It has been very inspiring to read how Grace and her family have supported each other through the challenges of raising a child with Osteogenesis Imperfecta".

An impactful and encouraging read.
This has reaonated with me in so many ways. While the caring journey can be challenging It's important to prioritise self-care and personal development. It was lovely to read the authors story and her words of hope and encouragement for the caring journey.
