Summary

Am I fake dating my best friend? Hear me out....

So I'm throwing myself a breakup party, a glittery fete where I envision I'll lift a glass and celebrate being free and single again. What I actually do: drink too much champagne and blurt out to my best guy friend that I'd really like to get back on the horse. But what I truly don't expect is Carter's answer—he volunteers as tribute.

With his sinful brown eyes and too-good-to-be-true body, it'd be no hardship for me to say yes, though I certainly don't want him to feel obligated to, um, service me, just because my failed, loveless marriage was an s-e-x desert.

But since the charming and confident pro football star owes five public dates to his dating-app sponsor, we make a deal to help each other out. Pretty soon, our public how-to-date lessons turn into, ahem, very private ones. And I'm a star student, graduating quickly from flirty banter and lingering looks to toe-curling, sheet-grabbing, mind-blowing hours of physical education.

The problem? Turns out learning to date again feels a lot like the real thing. Can our friendship withstand all these late-night bedroom sessions? Especially since I'm suddenly longing for my best friend, and there's nothing fake about my feelings...

A truly spicy Friends to Lovers from the Queen LB

This is a super cute, sweet but also surprisingly dirty and hot little story all in one. I love how the friendship between Carter and Rachel is ingrained early on and you really believe that they are best friends. It is delightful to watch as Rachel who is struggling with her own confidence issues after a recent divorce calls on her charming best friend Carter to give her "girlfriend lessons".

One thing leads to another and suddenly they find themselves becoming friends with "benefits" of the filthiest kind. Its such a delicious contrast as both Rachel and Carter are so sweet and adorable most of the time but in the bedroom - BOY do they let their wild sides go. These two are hot, hot hot!!! Friends to Lovers is not normally my go to trope but this one pleasantly surprised me. If you want a nice feel good listen with plenty of spice then you will love it.

Erin Mallon continues to be, in my opinion, one of the Audio Queens of the Rom Com. Her voice is perfect for Rachel to bring out her sassy, slightly neurotic but completely loveable side. She is one of my absolute favourite female narrators, if you see her name you know you are in for a fantastic time.

Teddy Hamilton is exceptional as Carter and his comedic delivery paired with his innate charisma makes him a continual fan favourite for good reasons. It is always a delightful listening experience when he is involved.

Such a good listen!

Another great story from Lauren Blakely! I loved the ADHD rep with seeing how Carter deals with it, without making it all about him and trying to ‘fix’ it. The romance is amazing, the move from friend-dates to the bedroom was so smoothly done and the steam was so good!

Definitely go for the audio if you can, Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton did such a good job bringing these characters to life!

Rachel & Carter

I laughed, I smiled and I swooned in this brilliantly written 5 star feel good booked.
Lifting the lid on invisible disabilities like ADHD and showing us all how you can live a normal life with it added a degree of authenticity to the book.
The cherry on top of this cake was definitely the narration by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon. Teddy really brings the swoony, dirty mouthed and straight shooter Carter to life; Erin is perfect as Rachel with all her sassyness.
