Summary
When the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, it's up to six college students and their experimental physics project to prevent the end of civilization.
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away.
Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet. The team has just hours to get as many people as possible across to Outland before a lethal cloud of ash overwhelms them.
Nothing has prepared the refugees for what they find - a world of few resources and unprecedented dangers. Somehow, they must learn to survive, because Outland may not just be a safe haven - it could be their new home.

Once again fantastic
Dennis E. Taylor has once again got me hucked and Ray Ported can make me feel like I am there.
From the premise of Yellow Stone to the way out, I was throughly Intrigued and entertained.
it's Bob all over again at least this time I know there's more to come.
Can only say this makes me want to listen to all of their other work over again. I could not recommend it enough.

Excellent book
I really enjoyed this book and have listened to it several times. Being a bit of a prepper myself I enjoyed hearing how the characters thought through what they would need to survive.

Ingenious use of parallel worlds
what a great concept for a book.
natural disasters, but with a sci fi twist. I loved the fact the gate owners were panning for gold.
the build up as they learn to live within the alternative environment is great

Kept my interest but is a bit simplistic
Thought it was great but it’s a bit...too coincidental and direct in places. Shows it’s an early work, a lot of the main characters are paper thin (Bill is very much a Proto-Bob) still it’s not a problem as there’s always something happening so it kept my interest. Loved to ideas and would have liked to seen them expanded a little more.
I’d recommend the Bobiverse books over this though.

Great book!
I really enjoyed this, so much so I burnt through the story really quickly breaking my usual discipline of not listening to audible books unless driving.
Roll on book two!
