Summary

O Caminho da Servidão é provavelmente o trabalho mais conhecido do professor Hayek. Foi publicado pela primeira vez em 1944, para depois ser traduzido em 12 idiomas, tornando seu autor mundialmente famoso. 

Esta obra nos mostra que o planejamento econômico não é apenas assunto de valor acadêmico, mas também objeto de estudo e de interesse público e governamental. Hayek defende que todas as formas de coletivismo levam inevitavelmente à tirania e à supressão das liberdades, como se observou no nazismo alemão, no regime socialista da União Soviética e nos países do bloco comunista. 

O autor demonstra como a concentração do poder nas mãos de um limitado número de burocratas provoca divergências acerca da implementação das políticas econômicas, incitando o uso da força pelo governo para que suas medidas sejam toleradas. “O caminho tão defendido da liberdade se tornaria então o caminho da servidão”. 

Este manifesto serve de alerta contra totalitarismos políticos e continua, portanto, oferecendo bases para uma discussão crítica sobre a economia planejada.
