"Makes sense of a confusing part of the bible"
Definitely. Reading Judges in the bible can be a real emotional roller coaster... Things are good, bad, good, bad..more bad, and more bad. You want to bang your head against a wall. But Keller takes this book and brings it to life, puts it all together, and gives a much more broad and thought provoking view of this book. It makes sense to me now.
Judges Ain't What You Thought It Was
"Life Changing Book - MUST read for Christians"
This is the most important book I've ever read and several of Keller's books would be on my top ten list. The Old Testament book of Judges is one of the most difficult to understand and contains the most shocking historical stories in the Bible. Keller makes it come alive and not always in a way that gives comfort. He shows the parallels between our world today and this ancient time. This book will show you clearly the strength of your faith and how much you really love for God if you have the courage to read it and study it.
Tim Keller does a good job with Judges but then he breaks his own rule in the end. He has said that you need to sum up the argument of someone you wish to criticize in a way they would recognise. Biblical revelation comes from God and the Bible is canon. If God gives revelation to someone it must agree with scripture. Now then go from there.
"You need this"
This audio book is excellent because of many reasons but chief among them is that it can be used to build the faith of a new believer but also grow and equip the mature believer as well. So many people do not understand how to read, understand, and apply the Old Testament. This book is the ttaining we need to find Christ in the book of Judges. if you struggle with Christianity, and particularly the conquest and it's moral grounds, this book is also for you.
